I have Mac and I don't even have a facebook account. For gaming I use Bootcamp, desktop customization... who gives a fuck, but hey! let's hate mac for its price even if we never used one!

Apple got extremely low specs for the price. Sure they are nice for music producers and such.

I can't understand why people can't just carry laptops around. If you get a small one, it's not exactly heavy, but can do much more than a tablet...

Actually, they are very useful for taking notes in places where laptops are forbidden, that and they are about a million times easier to pull out and use than a laptop. even if you have a netbook and somehow managed to put an SSD in it.

I have NEVER been in a place where laptops are forbidden. And when they are allowed, a full keyboard is much better.

Actually, several college classes do not allow laptops in classrooms but are fine with tablets. Then again, I do marine biology and fieldwork is much easier with a tablet that you can just hold with one hand and take pictures and whatnot a laptop requires more space and gives you less maneuverability. Just saying, they are useful for certain professions and circumstances.

yeah the ciscumstances of a student where a laptop is less useful but that is extremely rarely. what im saying is for the average user. i would personally never carry a tablet around for fear of theft or it being broken. and why would i need to? the main use of a tablet is internet access and i only have wifi at home. if im going out, its to do shit, not sit around at a coffee shop browsing the internet because if i WAS out id be hanging with friends or something purposeful

I agree, I like to travel really light so don't consider them "portable" (though many people do and that's fine). I'd rather use my phone for simple tasks that can be performed on a tablet. and as for home use why use a shitty little tablet when I have a high spec PC?

Tablets are a useful alternative to a laptop IMO, so if you don't own a laptop I can see why you'd want one.

Tablets are much easier to pull in and out of a bag or carrying case, plus when you add an android operating system and are able to function apps (correct me if I'm wrong because I have no idea if you can do that with a surface; just implying because it's windows operating system based), you can get a lot of functionality out.

Tablets just need to be put in the hands of someone technologically capable of using it, and not just someone who takes instagram pictures of what they're eating.

I just want to point out that there will be 2 versions of the Surface. One will run Windows 8 RT which will be more like current tablet computers (iPad, Kindle Fire, etc.) The RT version will only run metro apps (like the ones found on Windows Phone) so it won't be an open platform. The other will have Windows 8 Pro (the full windows 8 release) which will be a touchscreen laptop.

its too top heavy with they keyboard attached , the ui is still laggy even though it has impressive specs, the speakers are crap and one went out really fast, and the hdmi port is already failing. maybe i just got a bad one. but this is the third one ive had after returning twice for the hdmi problem. its probably the best android tablet there is though.. i never owned any others. really slow compared to ipad 2. has flash though.

Apple has some fucking great hardware, actually. It's their software that could use some work.

However, I do agree about the Surface. The pro is meant to have the same specs as an Ultrabook, while being even thinner AND full touchscreen capabilities.

This isn't just a tablet.

idk why but microsoft freezes a lot. Ive used both windows and mac and the windows always froze. My mac has yet to freeze. just some observation so hold the red thumbs.

I would agree. I feel I would like Apple much more if they didn't overprice the shit out of everything they sell. MacBook pro is 700$ worth of hardware and 800$ for a logo.

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to explain this to my dad, but being the world's biggest applefag, he always comes up with some bullshit about how that 800 bucks isn't wasted, but instead buys you a machine that just works.

IMO, the Windows Phone is so much better than the Iphone. I love mine, and it's a shame that developers haven't used it as much as the other phones.

I actually liked the Zune line. I've been using them since the first gen, I won't say that it's better than iPods though. I wouldn't use the iPod touch for apps that much so the Zune HD was the right choice for me, it offers many more supported video and audio formats so it was better for me.

Yeah, but let's face it: people don't want to do stuff on their phones with the internet. For instance, I refuse to get a cell phone at all, since I view it as a waste of time. I just use my landline and my laptop for everything. Microsoft does laptops and computers FAR better than Apple, so they should stick with that.

Since when did people not want to do stuff on the internet with their phone? I think giving phone's internet access is the best thing the cell phone industry has ever done.

I find that as long as you can justify to yourself in completely fair terms, then piracy has several uses. For example, if you have already bought a game but the CD breaks, then pirating it makes huge amounts of sense. Or, if you want to see if a game will actually run on your computer in the first place; if it works, you don't buy it, if it doesn't, you give the devs their help.

You know, if game companies started releasing demos again instead of trailers, I might halfway agree with you. A demo lets you know what a game is about, you have to play a little of it to see if you like it. A trailer is just 2-5 minutes of a developer carefully soaping their ballsack under precisely arranged lighting. So what I do is torrent any game I want, and if I like a game, I buy it brand new, directly from the developer. If it sucks, then I delete it, because it's wasting hard-drive space. It's like a demo, except you can see all the features and find out if they suck.
