Same thing with apple:
>new technology comes out
>cheap
>"meh"
>new technology comes out with apple logo
>costs twice as much
>"OMG! So innovative!"

Conclusion: People are idiots.

It's because people prefer apple software. Sure macs are more expensive, but there is not nearly as much hassle. The thing with the ipads and iphones and what not is that if anyone has ever used them, they are amazing machines. Most people use iTunes. Most people use ipods over zune players. Apple has very innovative software, making it look pretty is just a bonus.

Innovative software, you say?
>Itunes. Slows down computer as if I'm running BF3, horribly made.
>Safari. Horrible, no search engine in the url. Completely uncustomisable.
>iOS can't even run Flash on the iPhone/iPad/iPod.

What exactly makes them "amazing". I've tried Ipad 2 several times at my friends house. It just feels like a really expensive toy / facebook-machine

Apple isn't innovative, they just take lame ideas, like the tablet computer, and make them desirable. Remember the Microsoft tablet in 2001? It looks bulky, ugly and pointless. Same thing goes for the iPad except it's prettier. Plus, after the sudden popularity of touch screen devices, there was actually a market for it. So, you could say Apple is a clever company for making desirable products for a premium price. Now everyone sees Apple's way of marketing, and try to follow in it's footsteps, with pretty computers and touch screens and all the ********.

To be slightly fair about the Tablet PC, the touchscreen technology at that time wasn't very good. It was kind of cool, but it was very slow, not to mention there weren't apps and the sort then so there wasn't a whole lot you could do with it. So Microsoft threw it aside. Apple had already made the ipod touch and the iphone, so they had the whole app thing going for them, plus touchscreen technology had progressed much farther. So they picked up the tablet thing. They are innovative though in the aspect of the ipod, ipod touch, and iphone, I have to give Apple that at least. There is no defense for the computers though

It wasn't very user friendly though. Consumers don't usually buy overly complicated products (this was one of them), which is where Apple's niche in the market is, their stuff is extremely simple. Also, you really can't fairly compare technology that is years apart.

ray-bans are hand made in italy...workers are paid well above minimum wage, they were also the original makers of wayfarers and the quality is far better. no name brands are assembly lined, cost a dollar to make and ship and you usually need to by 15 because of the amount of times that they break

okay, any smartphone then. I just said iPhone cuz it's the most popular. my point is, even if the quality is better, $200 is way too much for a pair of sunglasses. And unless you drop them or something, the $10 pair is basically the same thing

They're also made in China

"Luxottica has been in China since 1997, when it opened its first plant there with Tristar, the Guangdong company controlled by the Agordo Group to manage production in China and back up its longstanding capacity in Italy. The plant in Dongguan City was the first to open and covers some 53,000 square meters, while the one in Gabobu Town, in the same part of Guangdong, covers 80,000 square meters and was opened in 2006. Tristar’s production platform plays an important role in the Group’s global strategy and has certain distinctive features that make it one of the most efficient and competitive in the whole of China. To diversify production in China, Luxottica uses skilled labor only and a level of technology very high for the standards involved in this type of production, all of which for the end purpose of guaranteeing the highest levels of service for our clients, reducing delivery times and above all maintaining the high standards of quality associated with Luxottica’s name. Luxottica employs around 4,600 people in the Guangdong production facilities, which fully replicate the Luxottica vertical integration model that has made the Group’s brands and operations so successful worldwide." - Luxottica website

My grandfather works for a limo company and when people don't take their things (or call up) after a certain amount of days, he's allowed to take them. So my 83 year old grandpa has Ray Bans, a couple of watches, money, etc.
