She didn't go insane... She learnt to adapt to her surroundings, tricked the main computer into leaking vital information, and became quite intelligent, even creating her own sonic screwdriver, and fought off those robot helper things on a daily basis.
Not only that, she also managed to find a way to disrupt the time sequence, as she says she could remember her younger self, being denied escape by her older self, but then gave her that escape anyway, and then sacrifices herself to her fate of non-existence because of this.
If that's not awesome, I don't know what is.

Well she did live in a place where if she let down her guard for a few minutes she would be killed by an army of murderous robots.

While Rory was made of plastic and looked after a big box.

Oh fuck, that bit where he went all "the last centurion" on those cybermen, turned up on their ship and just fucking intimidated them into giving him information... amazing.

She lived completely alone while constantly having to avoid being killed. Rory had other people around and didn't really have to worry much about dying seeing as he had a fucking gun in his hand! haha. I loved those episodes. Rory and Amy are probably my favorite companions so far besides Donna.

Rory chose to wait 2000 years and was driven by his love for Amy. Amy became insane because she felt like she was forgotten and abandoned by Rory and The Doctor.

That's not really fair. Amy had to age, she felt forgotten and alone, and became really good at surviving from those kindness things. Rory was an invincible guy with an awesome gun in his hand who knew exactly how long he'd have to wait and could talk to people.

Amy was isolated, it was just her. At least Rory could speak to people.
