Ok, not too beat a dead horse, but the first generation did have Pokemon that were simply unoriginal. And while many people claim that the designs have gotten worse, it is my opinion that Pokemon designs have stayed the same throughout. The good, the bad, and the what the fuck is this. I mean you can't say the designers really racked their brains for this design <----
Also Chimeco is a wind chime found on a holy mountain and I like Wobbuffet's design.

I agree with you mostly, although I think there have been slightly more garbage in later generations, 5th in particular. Although, for me, the big turn-off for the 4th and 5th generations are, for 4 a crap fire starter (I ALWAYS use fire, except there T_T), and for 5, the names. I can get past the designs, but the names... oh the names... Vanillice? Tepig? Gurdur? Sahk and Throh? Uuuuuuuuuuuu *shudders*

Chimchar and later on Inferape were the best of all the fire starters. It has the highest speed of any fighting type, can run both physical and special sets with deadly results, and tore through the rival like paper. I ended up going through the entire elite four with mine only bringing in another pokemon for Cynthia's Garchomp. And I agree about the names to a point. I prefer to use the Japanese names for thw Gen V pokemon just because hearing them first they sound better.
In gen 4 Chimchar was the best starter to get... Not only was he the fastest, which meant you could get a super effective hit on either rival right off the bat, he was the ONLY fire type, besides ponyta, that you could get before beating the elite 4. And the names have always been like that... Hitmontop? Hitmonlee? Hitmonchan? Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam? Lickitung? All kind of cliche and silly don't you think?
I'll give you the names. But with Chimchar, I must've just been unlucky, because mine couldn't take a hit. Literally, my Noctowl four levels below was tougher, and it went down to 1/3 HP after a mega punch from a pokemon five levels below it. I went through the game with a luxray.
