Which is valid, if you don't like it than don't listen to it. For me I am very much into dubstep and trance and techno and shit.

What bugs me is my friend who used to love skrillex now hates him, for no reason, other than he I guess is a hipster who likes listening to stuff other people do not listen to. Which I knew about him already.

I used to like Nickelback, and I used to be okay with Skrillex.

But when Nickelback keeps making the same song over and over again, it just kinda grew old and uninteresting. Now I hear a Nickelback song on the radio and out of reflex I have to hit the scan button.



As for Skrillex...
He's completely lacking in creativity.
That started WAY early on in his career, though. When you look back at his old electronic stuff from his first EP, it's all the standard loops and samples that fucking COMES WITH fruityloops.



Point being; If you've found a formula that works, that's fine. But change shit up. Damn.

I agree with you that skrillex is not the most creative, but I look at it like this.

I do not have the patience to make the same music and I enjoy the sound, plus I feel he has some form of talent because he can actually play guitar and drums and shit and also was in a band.

I always try my absolute best to respect fellow musicians and give credit where it is due.

That being said, I just cant give a whole lot of credit to Skrillex.
Because, just like you said, anyone with enough patience to point and click, can make his music.

It's not because I hate that he uses fancy programs, synths and modulators and shit like that... It's because I think he lacks musical talent. It's because he lacks the creativity to move forward. As a musician you must strive to make each song better than the last. Try new things. Find new sounds, styles and ways of making the music you want to hear. When the most creative part that goes into making one of your songs is "Which of my preset snare riffs am I gonna use on this? And which preset kick should come in here?" then you can barely call it making music. It's more like putting together a really noisey factory made puzzle.

For sure, and I would say that you are right. He really does not have that much talent but I do enjoy the sound of his music.
