I love football (soccer) and I'm American. (btw I call soccer football). I respect all other sports in and outside of America. But really, I live in a country where people don't respect the beautiful game, where so many call the sport gay, or boring, or it takes so long to watch. Seriously? Baseball, America's passtime, take a good 3-4 hours to watch, and American football 2-3! (I don't mean to put down other sports.) It makes me feel almost ashamed to be American, that we can't fully accept a good thing as something of our own, and have more culture thriving throughout the nation.

We do have major league soccer, but most people frown upon it like we can't play football for our lives, except for actual MLS fans.

Sorry, I just wanted to get that off my chest. I'm not trying to insult America, just certain people in the country who aren't considerate towards people who love football.

Regardless of how the state of MLS is now, soccer is a growing sport in America, and as team USA does better and better in global matches our pride and support is growing also. give it time, until then, enjoy the sport, be an ambassador for football/soccer!

I'm a growing soccer fan, and I have to say that I've noticed soccer take a real rise in America. I think more people are tuning into UEFA now. Especially here in KC where Sporting is becoming more and more popular.
