Just tell them the actual stories that the disney movies based themselves on and say "This is what Reality looks like"

Like how Ariel and the Mermaid's actual story was about how she drinks a potion that splits her tail into two, which she uses as legs, and does so while in excruciating pain.
And because she fails to make the prince love her, she turns into sea foam.

Oh and Mermaids apparently don't have souls. Deal with it.
