Amon is cool.

He is an evil, cruel and merciless person but he is cool. He has style, can overcome blood bending, has ninja moves and that mask is badass.

Yeah, he is the same, and I also found out looking up the guy, he's gonna do more voice-acting for LoK in the next episode, so General new-Iroh will most likely be in next episode as well.

Amon isnt energy bending
he is holding on to their throat and forehead which are as explained in the Aang series are the light and sound chakra that are responsible for illusion and delusion
Aang held on to Ozai's forehead or "third eye" and chest
so Amon isnt taking away their bending
hes just mentally blocking people from it
but can still be unlocked once again

same voice actor as zuko aswell which is always nice

I know before he took her bending he only took the bending of people who had it comming. gang members. stuck up cheaters. a corrupt blood bender

I think they put a voice too young for the age of Iroh. He looks like a man and has the voice of a kid. (it's zuko's voice actor)

So it could be that all the benders that have had their bending taken away by Amon haven't actually been completely stripped away from their bending techniques, but rather their bending abilities are sealed away in their mind due to an illusion. Following this and how it happened, chi-blocking has been used for an extremely long time in the Avatar world, but with how determined Amon is out of anger towards benders he could have taken years to master a technique that strongly seals bending away until it can be released somehow.

Aang never knew he could take away bending, and apparently none of the past avatars knew they could.
So...maybe Korra will discover some crazy new move and give bending back.

I doubt they could give bending to anyone because Amon would be able to give any nonbender bending instead of taking it away from benders. Maybe he could give it back to former benders but i dont know for sure

the point of the equalists is to not have bending. Why would he give his followers bending.

Tensions between the earth and fire nations were still high.
Thousands of people died, Aang didn't bring them back.
The airbenders were still all dead.
Nothing was fixed, they just stopped it from getting worse.

as if everybody who got their bending taken away gets it back is going to change the fact that people died in the raid on Republic City and there will no doubt be lasting tensions between benders and non-benders.
