FPS THEN FPS NOW
Limited amount of healthpacks per level - Infinite health regeneration
Complex level design - Nothing but linear corridors
Lots of secret rooms to be found - Almost no secrets to be found
Fast and intense gameplay - Slow and "realistic" gameplay
Dying takes you back at the start of the level - Checkpoints every five meters
Epic boss battles at the end of each episode - Few or no boss battles at all
Huge amount of enemy variety - Enemies are nothing but generic grunts
Colorful and varied environments - Brown and bloom

I think a lot of games have today aren't like what they used to be. I think up until after PS2 gen. it all went down hill. Like in the Rachet & Clank games had a lot of collectibles and unlocks you could get throughout the game. Now it's all about Call of Duty (or Battlefield or Halo). I'll play some FPS' but, then I get a little raged and quit for a little. Games pretty much have no value anymore. A lot of Nintendo games are fun, like Mario Party, and Zelda. Too many games trying to strive to be the most "Bad ass" game of the year. Games should be bad ass AND not make you rage 24/7. And DLCs for games usually cost too much. Some can be good deals but expensive as **** . Like Premuim on Battlefield 3. $50 to get DLCs early, cool. But I'd rather wait until the game of the year edition or whatever. And how many times have you said, "I'll wait until the price drops."? Games cost a lot these days. You're getting a lot of content, but for most games, it's not good. The game it's self isn't good, and you see the new DLC that's coming out, and you play it and... it sucks...

TL;DR? Games suck these days.
