So not only can't you understand a joke, you act like a douchebag as well.

This is the reason I put equipment in my own garage instead of going to the gym.

nonono, you put your equipment in your own garage, because you are socially awkward and aspie as fuck. face the truth.

Face what truth? What a load of shit. I'm as sociable as anyone else, and Asberger's is a bullshit diagnosis. What sickens me about the gym is the competitive aura that exists within it, and people like these. All I want is to jog and do some strength training. What I don't need is someone to eye me up, take the spot next to me and then proceed to out-perform me with a smug face for the sole purpose of self-gratification. I don't work out to compete, I work out for my fucking health.

>gym
>competitive aura

pick one.

95% of the time, those are the exact same fucking thing, hence my own gym.

Dude, i bet you haven't trained for longer than 2 years in a gym, because then you would know that nobody gives a fuck. nobody stares at you while you do your squats or your deadlifts (except when they are mirin). You suffer from the so call "Spotlight effect".

look it up. Trust me, there are no "gym-douchebags" who look at you and laugh (except when you REALLY behave stupid).
User avatar #378 to #377 - auesis (06/15/2012) [-]
No, I do not. I've heard of the spotlight effect before, but this not a case of "I think everyone is watching me" or some stupid shit like that. This is actual cases of direct confrontation. Yes, this is most likely a localised problem, as there are a lot of social problems in my area related to chavs and street gangs etc. but why can't you accept that douchebags actually exist?
User avatar #379 to #378 - abitur (06/15/2012) [-]
Well okay, let's say they exist and the really laugh at you. But then I'd say within one year or two i will lift more than them. This gives me a good feeling, so eventually i'd feel more motivated than without them. And yes, i am what you would call a "gym-clown" since i do my clean&jerks at the gym and most of the people there don't even know that exercise. But since i do them self-confident, nobody actually stares at me. A few days ago, someone even asked me if i coulld show him how to squat properly.

Just do your shit. Don't be an insecure faggot who looks around and checks if someone is watching.

I'm pretty sure you wonder why I rage so hard at people who complain about gyms. I can tell you it's because these people actually project their on insecurity on others.

No, you still don't understand what I'm saying. I'm minding my own business, on proper form on my individual standards, and then numerous regulars (who I usually know from somewhere else) make an effort to push themselves in to my field of view, wait until my attention is caught, then grab a nearby spot and out-perform, snigger, leave and look back for my reaction. Of course, I barely react at all, but the very fact that some people in my local gym will bother to do this means that I can't be bothered to deal with their shit, and I'd rather just get my work done in peace.

I don't care about how they out-perform, or how they act. I simply care about the fact that they are bothering to try and interrupt me with their asinine antics. I simply have a very short fuse for stupid shit. It's nowhere near everyone, granted, but it's not in my interest to put up with their vapid bullshit while I work. Like I said, this is a localised problem with select people, and not a social awkwardness or an insecurity problem. These idiots have obviously set me up to pre-judge all other gymnastic environments, but that's how it stands. All I care about is getting on with my routine, and when a bunch of morons purposely intervene on that, then I will take my business somewhere else. Simple as that.

well if that's the case, that these niggers come up to you and really interrupt you, then i COULD understand your problem. But i swear this never happened to me, so sorry bro, but i don't know that feel.
