that's another thing i've noticed. The overall shading for LoK is a lot darker. Just look at Sokka's skin color (original shading)

Yeah I've noticed along with the shading, that the art style and overall feel of LoK is a lot more dark and mature than TLAB. Kinda like when Aang was fighting Fire Lord Ozai, but with more gray.

The grey is probably part of the overall urban setting, It may also be canonically darker because of pollution.

I didn't even think of the pollution. o.o I just figured the creators used that color scheme to make it feel more mature.

that's probably the more likely scenario. I just realized how surprisingly eco-friendly Republic City is, I remembered the powerplants are powered by firebending lightning.
