Yeah, just a little bit, considering he thinks bands like Skindred are good. If you're getting pissed at other people for having opinions on OTHER people's opinions that's pretty contradictory anyway.

If you'd like for me to express why I have a problem with his taste taste in music, here you go:
I can tolerate Korn, Slipknot, FF, even A Day To Remember, but I just cannot tolerate Skindred. Skindred is about as generic as things go when it comes to music. They aren't doing anything I haven't heard a thousand times before.
Another problem I had with that comment is that he thinks these bands are keeping music "alive" as if they are paving the way for better bands to be created. Most of the bands he mentioned have the same generic sound that has been implemented for years and lyrics that tell a story, already told a million times over.

So, yes, I guess you could say I have a problem with his taste in music.

I'm not going to sit here and defend those bands because I don't need to validate a reason over why he and I, think they are good bands. What every you just said is completely fine as you are entitled to your own opinion. I'm just trying to make you realize how dumb you're sounding as you put someone down as you tell them why their music is shit. It's really easy to find something negative about any type of music. Which is why I don't understand why I constantly see people get thumbed down for liking bands like The Devil Wears Prada, and A Day To Remember. If you don't like them, oh well. Get over it. Not everyone is going to share your taste in music.


And about the "keeping music alive" thing he mentioned, he's not wrong. Music is a very vast subject. Hundreds of genres and subgenres. Keeping "music" alive, while implying a certain band, only means that they're keeping their specific genre alive. In other words, Metallica is not keeping country alive in anyway, but it is keeping metal alive. Country is music though, and people like Taylor Swift and Tim McGraw are keeping it alive.

OK, but to be perfectly fair, you contradicting yourself by acting as though my opinion of his music taste isn't an opinion either. Saying "fuck you" to someone who expresses their dislike (OPINION) towards someone else's music taste is pretty hypocritical.

The point of the rating system is for individuals to express their distaste (OPINION) or their enjoyment (OPINION) of a comment. Whether that comment is a joke or a genuine opinion is irrelevant to the voting system. Stop trying to be the white knight on here, it's pointless.

How are these bands keeping a genre of music "alive?" Do you think people are completely forgetting genres of music? Like if a metal single doesn't hit the charts in a few years, metal is just going to become outdated? Who cares if it DOES become something that isn't popular? Music is made for the purpose of showing emotion, and whether you show it with metal, country, or whatever, it's still going to have the same message. These bands aren't keeping "metal" alive. Genres of music will always be here, they just might not be as popular as other genres at times.

I'm not putting him down. When did i tell him his music was shit? It's not even his music. It's the music he likes. If you are SERIOUSLY getting worked up over something as small as what bands a guy likes, that's your problem. Stop trying to be a white knight, that shit doesn't work on a website like this where retards lurk around every corner.

I understand my motives are pretty hopeless, but for someone who shares the same opinion in music as he does, and for us both to be thumbed down every time we say anything about it, is a little infuriating, but you're right. No one is ever going to thumb us up for sharing our opinions in music whether they be different or not right? That's just how ignorant everyone is. His opinion of those bands keeping their genre alive is for him to describe, not me, personally I think there are better bands that lie under that genre. (mind you, I don't consider any of the bands he stated to be straight "Metal", ADTR is metalcore, Slipknot is numetal, etc etc)

When it comes to "keeping the music alive", I believe that it's exactly as it states. Sometimes genres are so over powered by countless bands that all sound the same, and that's how it dies. It doesn't seem like it to people who don't pay attention to the music to begin with, but it does happen.

Either way, you're right. I'm wasting my efforts because there are retards on this site everywhere. I'm not really that worked up, I'm just putting more effort into my explanations because this shit happens all the time. Someone mentions a band like We Came As Romans and everyones like "LOLFAGGOTSHITMUSICTHUMBDOWN". I'd like to see the alternative universe where bands like Foo Fighters and Metallica are considered shit, and bands like A Day To Remember, and Attack Attack, are constantly praised.

See, what happens on here is, your comment will either start with +1, -1, or 0, obviously. If you get +1, you are prone to either getting more positive thumbs or negative thumbs, which is obvious. If your comment stays at 0 thumbs it probably means no one understood what the fuck it was supposed to mean or it was just text and of course no one cares when all that's in your comment is text. However, the weird thing is that when your comment starts off with -1, it will VERY RARELY ever get any positive thumbs to bring it anywhere above that. This must mean that there are people on here that will automatically thumb down ANY comment that has even one negative thumb. Of course, this will continue until your comment isn't as readily available to someone who just started reading a page, or until you are so far in the negatives no one cares anymore.

What I'm saying is, don't let the negative thumbs on those comments get you down. The thumb system on here is fucked because of all the idiots who automatically thumb down a post with negative thumbs.
