Eh, what? All of these are assumptions just from looking at this post. I mean, what can you really "know" about 9Gag? That the content there itself isn't that bad, but the people in the comments are? I don't know.

What are you trying to imply? I know alot about 9Gag so that means I go there? So what if I would? There's no code of honor or something telling me not to, just little kids who wants to hate on 9Gag because their big brothers told them to. I don't, though, but that's because I made the choice not to.

well personally i don't hate them just dislike them.
back then i used to visit 9gag and FJ and i used to enjoy both sites but i eventually left 9GAG and only visit when my friends want me to look at something
here are the reasons why i left them:

1. they put 9GAG on everything , i used to browse 9gag earlier this year and late 2011 they'd have certain themes per month, like "no bra january" i'm not entirely sure about FJ participating in these kind of themes but it was more pre-dominant in 9gag.
they'd put or say "for 9gag" or "9gag army unite!" or "i did this for 9gag" or simply write 9gag on their artworks or t-shirts or whatever item they produce and say it's for "9gag". i found it annoying...

2. They overuse and misuse memes. need i say more?

3. most users are attention whores. they used to have this fad where a user would hold up a big piece of paper and written there is the " i'm the 99%/ 1%" when they're obviously just trying to make theirselve look good. or during "no-bra january" female users would write 9gag on their boobs and shit. and don't get me started on the "this is my derpina fad"
several users started drawing their own version of Derpina and usually just draw her in a sexy pose with extremely large boobs wearing a grey shirt with the 9gag logo on it.

4. the comments. absolutely no creativity and just a repeat of everybody else's comments and again overusing memes... and that's why i chose FJ over 9GAG, their content may be better but it's the comments here that win me over.

5. i also find it annoying on facebook where my wall would get spammed with 9gag posts.i understand you want to share it because you find it interesting or funny but please limit it to 2 or 3 posts. i actually went to a point where i changed my friends updates to important only.

well those are my reasons, others i'm not sure. they can thumb me down but at least i actually have a reason/s to dislike 9gag and not just because "everyone" hates 9gag.

I think that all the misusing of memes, attention-whoring etc. is due to the high 'population' of 9gag. It was a good site before every single hipster and wh0re found it out and started calling an army... In other words, the problems hides in the high popularity of the site - I am 100% sure that if FJ had as many visitors as 9gag, it will become a trashy site, too. No offence, but that's the situation.

It was a great pleasure reading such a comment because I left with the conclusion that all FJ is populated by some 5-graders who hate something just because.... they want to hate something. Thank you again for the time you've spent on writing that down. :)

i think the reason why we don't have as big of a population/traffic as 9gag is because of our site layout. I've had friend or acquaintances that actually visits, or used to visit, 9gag i asked them why they prefer 9gag over FJ and the top reason i usually hear is because the site layout and interface of 9gag is more user-friendly and cleaner. i have to agree with them because the first time i browse FJ i had a hard time understanding the purple line and the dubs and stuff, i actually had no idea what's with all the dubs and trips back then and it was quite confusing to browse the comments area but i learned as a went along since i really enjoyed the comments here, they're usually the reason why the content is funny. If FJ's layout was as clean as 9gag i'm pretty sure we'd be as crappy as them.

9gag is a pretty decent site if you don't have the crappy users. i wish they're users didn't attention whore as much as they do and i just wish they stop over using not only memes but as well as their site logo.

and no problem. it's nice to have a decent conversation in FJ every once in a while, i've had so much hate in life back then that it actually got boring. so i'm trying to out being happy 24/7.

Yeah, you're right that they sold badges but no one claims that they've invented the memes. They, just like FJ, coppy pics from the interwebz, however, they do not act childish and do not make armies against other sites - that's just ridiculous. Why don't we all have fun and stop blaming other sites for copyright... We all know that a big percentage of the images uploaded here, on FJ, are 'stolen'.

Plus, guys, thumbing my comments down is not a sign of virility. I've been part of the FJ society for quite a long time.

For they claim to be the most original and funny website on the interblarg. They support this idea by claiming every meme and rageface as their own.
Second, you couldn't possibly have missed al the cases of '9Gag Army', where they'd spam youtube channels, not just for trolling but utter hurtful comments that were uncalled for. This whole 'army' mainly consists of 12 year old butthurts, who get the guts because they feel strenghtened by sheer numbers. Nevertheless, they're still just 12 year olds who feel as if they rightfully own the world.

FIrst of all, they do not claim the memes as their own. I am part of both FJ and 9gag community, so... trust me.

Second, I agree about the '9gag army'... People who write this are truly 12-year-olds, however, the 9gag community hates them, too. Do not bother! :)

Well, the fact that 9Gag army is hated by the rest of the community is not really a reason not to bother. They feel empowered by 9Gag, and since the 9Gag community does not do a thing about it, I bother.
If 9Gag claims not to support this so called army, delete all members involved.
Because that is the reason why 9Gag is hated.
'Not to bother' is not really an option when there is nobody taking responsibility.
