NOOOO!" Then Korra was all, gasp, his bending is gone, Amon means business.

TLDR: Amon is rich, he pays people to stop bending.

Amon Theory #3102: Amon is actually a Gender Bender and all the guys who had their powers 'taken' away actually had their gender bent so they could only Sammich Bend, that's why it won't work on Korra since she is already a Fully Realised Sammich!

Actually, Amon was affected by Tarlokk's blood-bending, but he was somehow able to overpower it, shown by how Amon was slowed and you could hear it in his body.

That is quite genius. I've heard several legitimate theories of who Amon actually is, but that is by far one the best. We already know the type of advanced technology the avatar world had developed, so it's very probable. Not to mention the mechanical limbs Combustion Man had, that was ingenious, and it happened over 80 years ago. However, Amon's actual identity could still be questioned and that is the real challenge.
