Midfield of players we used to have: Kuyt, Mascherano, Alonso, Gerrard, Benayoun. All world class internationals (except maybe Benayoun but he was awesome when he played)
Midfield of players now: Henderson, Adam, Spearing, Gerrard, Downing.
And the worst thing? Downing and Henderson cost more money than Alonso and Mascherano.

You're being harsh on those two signings, Henderson is one for the future, he's young. Downing was an established England international and he won player of the season at Aston Villa last year. He also had the highest number of successful crosses in the season before joining us. But he fucked up big time this year. (You can't blame them for signing him, no one knew he was gonna fuck up)

Downing cost us more than Ashley Young cost Man Utd. Henderson cost us 13 million more than Gary Cahill cost Chelsea. Henderson was absolutely useless that whole season so I don't know who told Kenny that Henderson was worth 20 million! Probably some sort of spy... But seriously, we're shit and everyone knows it.

Firstly, we don't need a central defender, so I don't know why you are comparing Hendo to Cahill. And if you look at the stats before Downing joined us, he was the far better option than Ashley Young. Over the last 6 Premier League seasons, the only players who have created more goal scoring chances than Downing were Giggs, Gerrard, Lamps, and Fabregas. This is why I get fucking pissed off when people say he was a bad signing, its easy to say that in hindsight.

We are currently shit, but with our new owners who are willing to spend cash unlike Hicks and Gillette, and a new exciting manager, our future looks much better than it did during the H&G days...

I wasn't comparing the style of Henderson and Cahill, merely the ridiculous difference of the players' value (only a spactard would say that Henderson has more quality than Cahill), but then we've always been useless in the market. Also that claim you've made about Downing on his assists is clearly untrue, if you bothered to check (Ashley Young got 17 assists in one season, Downing got 12 in six. Source Wikipedia, would use a more reliable source but i cant be fucked).

Liverpool are a team who are meant to challenge for the title, we last did that under Rafa in the middle of the H & G era. Can the owners match City, United, Chelsea or Arsenal for money? If so, then maybe the future is bright, if not look forward to some UEFA cup football in the future.

Carroll looks to have improved massively, hopefully he carries on his form from last season.

Spearing is meh in my opinion, but the real miss has been Lucas; if he hadn't got injured, our season would have been TOTALLY different.
