Item #6 alone is 'nuff said. Whether sincerely good intentioned or not, this organization is and always has been grossly malfunctioning, to say the least.

The fact that those PETA spokespeople wear leather or use animal products has nothing to do with animal rights, so to call them hypocritical is retarded. You could work in a slaughter house, eating twenty steaks a day and still believe in animal well being. Also as pointed out, saying anything about her personal character just lessens your arguement and makes you look silly. This whole thing just seems pathetic to me, it really does. And yeah I agree PETA suck, but not as much as your logic
PETA in essence is like radical islam because both are almost completely hypocritcal of their original goals

PETA recently also wanted to change the name of "fish" to "sea kittens" because who would want to kill a kitten.......did they forget the fact that in some countries, cat is food?

How is driving a car with leather seats animal cruelty? if a cow is killed for it meat, then whats the harm in using the skin to make furniture. seems like a waste to throw it away!

I agree that many people involved with PETA are batshit crazy and are defaming an essentially good cause. That said, many of the arguments listed here are ridiculous. Pointing out that PETA "kills cats and dogs" as a way to label them as hypocritical is particularly absurd. So does the humane society, and it's not because they have some kind of insatiable blood-lust: there are just far more cats and dogs than there are homes available.
If you dislike something, that's fine, but you still need to include research that's actually relevant and means something. This little bit of propaganda doesn't just waste people's time, it makes people who agree with you look like idiots.

If you know anything about PETA's policies, you'd know they're against killing any animal for any reason. They believe in life at all costs. Therefore, it's hypocritical for them to be killing animals for any reason. There are no-kill shelters who keep animals deemed 'unadoptable' alive and try to find them the right home. Whether you agree with that or not, they uphold PETA's policies better then PETA does. As well, other shelters have a far lower euthanasia rate, I believe anywhere in the 50%-60% range, usually. If a humane society had a 97% kill-rate, it would be shut down and investigated by the SPCA, and people would be outraged.

so I'm thinking this proves cats are just slightly harder to tame than dogs...smarter or crazier????jk. neat statistics
I've been vegan for some years now, but I know that PETA is pretty much a bunch of freaks that give the rest of us a DISGRACEFUL name by taking things way to far and making everyone hate them, and in turn, us.

PETA is retarded. And anyone who disagrees needs to stop huffing glue.

i think your whole infographic is suspect... you can't even do basic math on your first stat (though it would have been in your favor).
8 of 2366 round to 99.7% kill rate. I take your stat with a grain of salt.
moron.

The stat says that 2301 were killed. It says 8 were adopted. Notice 2301 + 8 = 2309. The stat says PETA impounded 2366 animals in 2009. THe kill statistic accounts for the animals that were killed out of the animals that were impounded. It can be assumed that the 57 animals that were "left out" were still alive at the end of the year, and there fore wouldn't fit into the category of "killed" or "adopted."
2301 / 2366 = .972527
(.972527) x 100 = 97.25% ~ 97%
The statistic is correct.

ya the achievement was "d.e.h.t.a's little p.i.t.a"
pita is pain in the ass, haha.
WoW made fun of them cause peta protested the nesingwary quests in nagrand for promoting the abuse of fictional animals which in turn "could lead real life humans to slaughter animals for fun"

I despise PETA as much as the next person, but I found the bit about Newkirk being sterilized because she opposes giving birth to be in poor taste. It's like the author was trying to imply: "See? She's an AWFUL person because she got STERILIZED! What kind of evil person opposes GIVING BIRTH??!"
What she's done to both animals AND the good name of animal rights/conservation is bad enough, do we have to vilify the act of female sterilization just because the head of PETA did it? I'm a childfree adult female. I have nothing against kids, but I believe it's a woman's right to choose NOT to breed if she doesn't want to or believes that it's wrong. In Newkirk's case I think we can all agree she made the right choice.

I'm a vegetarian and I love animals. When I graduated college I interview at PETA for a position as a graphic designer thinking that I would fit in since I don't wear leather, or eat animals, or hunt. WOW was I wrong. these people are nutty and do more harm than good for the promotion of ethics regarding animal abuse by making anybody who promotes ethical treatment of animals looked at as nut cases. I turned down the job. They were more concerned of radicalizing me than hiring me for my design skills. Support ASPCA instead. Again practical arguments get lost in hysteria, labeling and just plain nuttiness.

I love animals, and I respect the rights of people to eat meat (hey I love a good steak!) and hunt (I come from a family of hunters). If you want to support the cause, donate to a more sane, responsible organization like the ASPCA. Not crazy-ass PETA.

seriously, why does anyone care if shes been sterilized?
Is this a bad thing, if its a woman's choice? What the hell does that have anything to do with the article?
Ignorant, petty name calling invalidates all your other logic or statistics in us, the readers' eyes.

It's not the fact that she is sterilized that is weird. It's the fact that she OPPOSES GIVING BIRTH.
I don't know how accurate that is, but if it's true that she thinks giving birth is wrong then she believes no one should give birth, thus killing off the world.
