Brother-zone actually saved my life (your mileage may vary...). The girl that I was heavily interested in that brother-zoned me has turned out to be not only mentally unstable despite years of "getting better", but she has become a lot more aggressive than she used to be, her ego has ballooned far past what it once was, she thinks that her life is something so terrible even though most of her pain she brought down on her own head (sometimes for attention), she thinks that she's some kind of anarchist because she listens to Green Day (American Idiot/21st Century Breakdown, mostly), etc. I got brother-zoned because she was interested in my best friend who began abusing her emotionally and sometimes physically over the course of 2 years (not even in a relationship with her, just leading her on and using her between his relationships, and I would have stopped this had I known about it). Now, after my best friend fucked my ex who I was trying to repair things with, she's finally got this nice-guy boyfriend of hers who I know I'm better than, but I'd rather not get lassoed into the crazy. MFW she came onto me romantically once last year.
