I want to watch anime, but I can't find any that seem good. I've just finished watching Mirai Nikki, and I've seen SAO, Clannad, Accel World and a ton others. I enjoy things that have a psychological kind of twist. Drama. Action. Anything dealing with virtual worlds. So does anyone have any suggestions?

Oh my god
you want virtual worlds
For the love of GOD, watch Dennou Coil.
You'll be amazed.

sounds interesting, has it been dubbed outside of Italy yet? and, if so a link to DL would be appreciated.

Always check baka.bt for that stuff.

i did it told me it couldn't find it i mean truly, if i would have found it i wouldn't have asked, but thank you, even though i won't be downloading because it says Japanese audio, nothing against anime but if i wanted to read it i would buy / DL the manga.

That's a piss poor excuse to not watch the show.

i have patience to wait until it is dubbed, there have been a few shows i watched in Japanese because i knew that our companies would never dub them because of something or another that america finds aren't PC.
User avatar #442971 to #442958 - cadaverbox (01/07/2013) [-]
umm well America isn't really that bad on political correctness.
if you think otherwise you should check out Funimation's version of Shin-chan.

Anyways, this show came out recently and isn't that popular, so a dub is not gonna happen at all for at least 3+ years. By which time, you'll probably have forgotten about the show, and maybe you'll have moved on from anime.

Don't waste what time you have.

i know that we might not seem that strict, but not every animation company gets in with funimation, or any well known company. it already has an Italian dub, so it shouldn't be too long, and when i finish cropping and moving the cut outs around you will have a list of all my shows i have on my 1TB hard drive, maybe you could recommend from there when i post it.

I tried watching it but I couldn't get through the first episode.

Well bummer.
I might get where you're coming from though.
The set up sort of drags on for a bit. Episode 15 is when the show really starts to pick up, and when I say pick up, I mean it really gets right to the point, no pussy footing around, just straight action and plot development. Everything prior becomes logically necessary for the climax to occur however, so all the feet dragging is justified.

I really am glad you feel the same way I felt when I watched it. Have you finished it yet?
User avatar #442926 to #442914 - cadaverbox (01/07/2013) [-]
I'm on ep. 21.
This show just doesn't stop firing from all cannons. It just doesn't. The first 15 or so episodes were all just leading up to all of this. Cliff hanger after cliff hanger after cliff hanger. Just wow.
User avatar #442934 to #442926 - MillionsKnives (01/07/2013) [-]
It really doesn't stop at all til the end when everything comes together gloriously. Agreed about the first 15 episodes, they are all there just so you get attached to the characters and see the interactions with each other before everything starts getting amazing.

there is the .hack collection, elfin lied, baka and test, heavens lost property, when they cry(psychological twist). those are off the top of my head.
User avatar #442883 to #442873 - saintofmasks (01/07/2013) [-]
Why "Baka and Test" and "Heaven's Lost Property" if you don't mind me asking?
#442915 to #442883 - yusay ONLINE (01/07/2013) [-]
Has some test system that's a kind of virtual war plus episode 8 is chock full of references to other anime

baka has action(kind of), gender bender(kind of) /twins, and heavens lost property if you watch forte(season 2) you will find out about one reason, but in the first season and second the ability to change reality, and the fact that one of the voice actors i have grown accustomed to is in it. and angel beats is another with created/different worlds.

Well, to each their own. Since I was a child and watched .hack// I've fallen in love with the idea of a virtual world.

I really enjoyed mushishi and durarara. I tried aoi bungaku but I stopped watching because of the second story. I don't like the idea of the time skip. Is it worth watching for the other books?
User avatar #442868 to #442864 - boyddamilkman ONLINE (01/07/2013) [-]
Nothing is as good as the first story, though nothing is as bad as the second. The one after the second is also quite powerful and very well done and all the others are pretty good as well.
User avatar #442872 to #442868 - saintofmasks (01/07/2013) [-]
I agree, the first one was truly a wonderful piece. The ending made me sad, but since it left an emotional scar, it proves it was a well-done work of art.
I'll give it a try.
User avatar #442874 to #442872 - boyddamilkman ONLINE (01/07/2013) [-]
Also, you may enjoy Baccano, Kino's Journey, and Mononoke.
User avatar #442876 to #442874 - saintofmasks (01/07/2013) [-]
Is there any reason why? I've heard of baccano and mononoke, but the cover art doesn't look like something that would interest me.
User avatar #442884 to #442876 - boyddamilkman ONLINE (01/07/2013) [-]
Baccano! is written by the same original author and animated by the exact same staff as Durarara!! and is widely considered to be the superior of the two.

Kino's Journey is somewhat similar to Mushishi in the sense that in involves a single character travelling. It is far more surreal than Mushishi and a tiny bit more action oriented but overall has some similar themes.

Mononoke is kinda a shot in the dark but seeing as you said you like psychological twists you may like it. Mononoke in many ways is Mushishi with psychological elements on LSD.

But we enjoyed it all
User avatar #442887 to #442884 - saintofmasks (01/07/2013) [-]
Thank you. Sounds like fun. I'll try them all, starting with finishing Aoi Bungaku. Thanks for the help.
User avatar #442879 to #442876 - yusay ONLINE (01/07/2013) [-]
Both are very good.

Especially Baccano's dub.

Mononoke isn't really for everyone, but I really, really enjoyed it as well.

Well, considering you just said "Virtual worlds suck" and didn't suggest anything, I'd rather not take your advice if it's okay with you.
