So, I just read and got up to date on the Yumekui Merry manga, and was really surprised how much better than the anime it was. I mean, it's kinda to be expected that the source material is generally better, but after reading it all I can see how good it was, and how bad the anime was. Has anyone on here either seen the anime or read the manga?

Also, decided to pick Chaser John Doe as my first mascot, might as well mention that too :p

And to follow a similar idea, an ITT: Really good adaptations and/or really bad adaptations.

I've been catching up on it, but I'm unimpressed so far. The only character I really like so far is the Chaser, and the others are fairly forgettable. I also feel that the story is a little messy, but maybe that will clear up as I get farther into the manga. I'd give it a 7/10 so far.

Yeah I can see what you mean, how far in are you? Things do start to come together more the further in it goes.

And I agree on the part about the Chaser :p

I'm only on Chapter 13. Normally I would be farther, but I'm having trouble getting into the series. I'll give it another shot if things come together later on.

Ah yeah, that's fair enough. I just personally like it, I do think it gets better later on, and a lot more gets explained, at that point it's just kinda dancing around the plot haha

I haven't watched or read it yet.

and as for the ITT, well D.Gray-Man had a pretty good anime adaptation, except for it's custom arcs but other than that, it's pretty faithful to it's source material.

Well, if you ever do, I suggest the manga over the anime :p

And i've been planning to watch D.Gray-Man, it sounds like it would be worth the watch if it's mostly faithful.

If you're willing to go through 103 episodes then go for it, but other than that, it's a pretty good watch.

I alright with that, it'd be nice to have a series that long that I like, so when I finish off GTO and Katanagatari i'll give it a go.

I have watched the anime, it wasn't very good... maybe I'll read the manga one day - how much further than the anime does it go?

As for the ITT... I don't cross formats very often - I've only read Berserk and Gantz to near completion. I suppose I would say that the Berserk anime is a little lacking compared to the manga but that's about all I could say.

The anime barely touches the story. I think it follows the first few chapters, then adds in some anime only characters to wrap up some kind of story that never happened in the manga. The weird teacher dude and his dream demon don't even appear in the manga D:
