Unless that's Cube Root Beer. No, you don't.

its not a cube glass smart guy
User avatar #129 to #126 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
A square glass is 2 dimensional suggesting that it cannot hold any volume. It's a cube glass, just calling it a square glass for the sake of the joke
User avatar #131 to #129 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
never said it was a square either
User avatar #134 to #131 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
then tell me professor, what is this sight we see before us?
User avatar #136 to #134 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
that is a glass, what more do you want?
User avatar #138 to #136 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
As to the shape since that's clearly what we're discussing here
#127 to #126 - ThisIsConnor (06/05/2012) [-]
Yes it is. There is not such thing as a square glass. For it to be a glass that can contain liquid, it must have height to it, thus, it is no longer a square, but a cube. Back to math classes for you.
User avatar #128 to #127 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
thats funny cause math taught me a cube is closed on all sides
User avatar #135 to #130 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
you think im wrong?
User avatar #137 to #135 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
A cube is defined as a symmetrical three-dimensional shape, either solid or hollow, contained by six equal squares. Whether or not one of those squares (sides) are made up a tangible substance such as glass does not disregard the fact that there are 24 right angles and all the sides are joined together at a vertex of equal length. Back to basic geometry with you

Whether the cube is hollow or solid is not define, therefore, it is not "either solid or hollow". In fact, in geometry, the dimensions of any given shape is defined, but lines have no width. One might say the lines don't exist, but simply mark the empty space between point A and point B.
User avatar #143 to #141 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
True but in a general sense of reality for the sake of perspective, this definition which does define volume and actual measurements are used.
User avatar #140 to #137 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
yes but the above picture is neither a square glass or a cube glass by definition. the question asked if you put it in a square glass would it be beer, so where am i wrong?
User avatar #142 to #140 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
The picture above is absolutely a cube, how is it not a cube. There's no such thing as a square glass, as in accurate as it technically is, it's for the sake of the joke. Though not square, it is a cube, I am baffled at how you do not understand this...
User avatar #147 to #142 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
thats is not a cube, you claim it is because it can be filled with something, but until that time it is not a cube, it is 5 equal sides touching each other and didn't your definition say six equal sides?
User avatar #149 to #147 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
That's like saying this isn't a cube. Just because it can be filled with something isn't my only argument incase you forgot. Just because it's physical side isn't there, doesn't mean it isn't a cube. As long as it has the potential to be a cube supported by its vertexes and angles, it's a cube. It has 6 sides, just pretend someone broke through one of the sides, is it not a cube then?
#150 to #149 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
like saying what isn't a cube?? and so what youre telling me is if i can pretend a side is there its really a cube. so pretending is reality now, that is awesome. what if i took out another side, would its still be a cube because i imagined the sides were there?
#151 to #150 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
That's what math is, have you ever seen a cos or sin angle? Where is anything on the x and y plane that is applicable in the real world? Math is all relatable through a different dimension that isn't bound by physics. Is this not a cube because it doesn't have any of its sides? You clearly do not understand the fundamentals of basic math, get an education
User avatar #152 to #151 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
no that is not a cube, if anything it is 12 rectangular prisms connected to each other
User avatar #154 to #152 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
Stay in school, it's truly baffling how simple concepts flew over your head...
User avatar #155 to #154 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
im out of school and i took both high school and college calculus classes, i know math. i am absolutely right in saying that is not a cube, you just refuse to be wrong and no longer have a counter argument so you turn to insults to try and make a point.
User avatar #156 to #155 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
do yourself a favor, google "cube glass" see what you end up with. Try getting the same picture but googling or looking up whatever you would define it as, if you do I'll admit i'm wrong
User avatar #157 to #156 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
what is your point? i get the same pictures typing in cube glass as i do square glass, does that mean everyone who posted those pictures is wrong? it can be labeled as a square glass but it clearly is not by definition a square, same goes for labeling it a cube glass, it is not, by definition, a cube.
User avatar #158 to #157 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
Look up what an open cube is. It's sad knowing that all that money towards your calculus classes in college has gone to waste
User avatar #159 to #158 - satansbestfriend (06/05/2012) [-]
heres what i was waiting for, you clearly just said an open cube, not a cube, an open cube. a cube is a cube is a cube. you take away a side and/or hollow it out it is no longer a cube. it has the shape of a cube, but it is not a cube
User avatar #160 to #159 - pandation (06/05/2012) [-]
an open cube is a variation of a cube, that's like saying a mechanical pencil isn't a pencil. A cube is primarily defined by the 24 right angles of equal length that give space for 6 sides. I feel like I've been talking to a stubborn child, good night
