Magnus is a Latin name first used in Rome, there was also a comic years ago called "Magnus Robot Fighter" It was about this dude who punched robots and then blew up and shit. It meant "great" and had nothing to do with Magnets. It's more commonly known of as a Scandinavia name and means "house of might/power", again, nothing with magnets. I only know this because I'm Norwegian (by blood, I haven't actually had any relatives live there for decades) and have a cousin with the name.
