i once went to vietnam for a vacation and brought my 8 year old son with me. we were walking through the "market row" when my son saw this place with a bunch of puppies in it... i told him he could pick one out so we could bring it home with us as a gift for his mother. he picked out the cutest most adorable puppy there. i told the lady that was the one we wanted. she brought the puppy into the back and came back out with what looked like a pack of hamburger you might get from the grocery store...

i told him the lady had given us the food so we could feed the dog when it was shipped to us in a couple weeks, then spent about a week looking for a dog that looked about the same as the one he wanted.... My son is 15 now, and still doesn't know that his beloved dog Trouble (i let him name it) was not actually from Vientam...

Similar experience happened to my mom when she was a little girl. Except she was in Korea and it was a cat. Naturally she realized they killed the cat.

Your profile says you're 22, having a 15 year old son would make you somewhere in your 30's, I assume it would take quite some time to butcher the dog into meat. 5/10.

That's true, and it totally ruined the story for me. Good job though.

I must ask why did you let the women go with the puppy ? I've been in vitenam and those shop were they sell dog meat are pretty obviously not pet shop...

But the true part is that the dog they are using are pretty cute

My teacher went to Vietnam with some friends when he was young, they all owned a dog together and one day the dog went missing from the backyard. Then later they saw the dog's pelt hanging in their neighbor's backyard.

i find it amusing how people get so upset at the thought of other cultures eating what we view as domestic animals, where in those cultures they might think the same of us eating cows or chickens

all in all, it's simply proof that america is full of closed minded, ignorant people who aren't willing to realise that meat is meat no matter where you get it, so if you like it then eat it, if you don't then don't... don't complain about how people eat one kind of meat when you eat another
User avatar #82 to #16 - OminousDemon (06/03/2012) [-]
completely missed the point

here ill spell it out for you,
they thought they were getting the puppy as a pet, not a meal

User avatar #68 to #16 - condormcninja (06/03/2012) [-]
Damn, you missed the point so much. Holy crap.

Think of it this way:
Cows are ugly
Puppies are cute as ****
#120 to #66 - msvegeta (06/03/2012) [-]
I think cows can be cute.

I swear I am not trying to seem "tough" but I didn't even have a feel, let alone cry, I guess II don't have the same kind of sympathy for animals like others do.
