No matter if the riddle has a solution or not, it's the German who owns it.
There's always something fishy about them.

Unknown. In the given information there is nothing about fish. So we don't know who has the fish. We may reach a point where only one person is remaining without a pet, but we don't know for sure if they own fish or not.

I remember this riddle and I did "solve" it when I was like 12. Later I realized that even if there was only one person left I still didn't know if he owned a fish. The question does imply that someone does own a fish but we don't really know that.

yes, but the 19th century is the 1800's. he couldn't have written it early in the a9th century.

Alright, I think I've got it. :D

1st house: Yellow, Norwegian, cats, water, Dunhill.
2nd house: Blue, Dane, horse, tea, Blend.
3rd house: Red, Brit, birds, milk, Pall Mall.
4th house: Green, German, fish, coffee, prince. << (German has the fish)
5th house: White, Swede, dogs, beer, Bluemaster.

AM I RIGHT? Because I spent a while on that. It was fun though :D

The answer is the German guy and I didn't look it up I worked it out and all three times to make sure using the same thing twice but a different the last time proving that my second chart was the right one and I then noticed my one little mistake in the first chart.

Solved this in 30 minutes in fifth grade. Answer's German. INB4 ******* liar
User avatar #113 to #109 - nockae (06/01/2012) [-]
I drew five houses and wrote their colors inside them. Then underneath that I had a line for each. After some guessing and getting it wrong once I asked my teacher to look it up and she told me that German was the right answer.
