Let me put it a way you can follow. When you were around 12 you most likely watched cartoons and developed a connection to the characters, and it bothers you at least a little bit if people insult them yes? well I was here on FJ when memes were brought here and I was around that age and they make up some of my memories, so seeing people misusing them is kind of like the equivalent to me.

All I'm going to say, is that it's typically the text in the picture that defines its use, not the picture itself. Sometimes you just want to use it to describe your facial expression, which (get this) was the original intent of macro images!
