You misunderstood my comment. Let me try to clarify.
There is no law that goes against equal rights in this regard. People legally aren't allowed to hit each other. If you get hit by someone and you see it as assault, you can file charges. This works if a woman was hit by a man, or if a man was hit by a woman.
And when you are hit, you still technically aren't supposed to hit them back. Then you're just engaging in a fight.
What I was saying earlier was that the girl can't legally hit the guy. And the guy legally shouldn't hit the girl. It goes both ways.
You might only find some sexism if you get into a self-defense argument, cuz the stereotype is that guys aren't endangered by a hit from a woman.

Oh, sorry. I didn't put to much thought into it, I agree that any form of assault is illegal, it's just the way they said it at the time was sounding like they were implying that a girl could hit a man as much as she pleases but you can't hit her because she's a woman.

What about self defense though? If you seriously feel you're in danger, filing assault doesn't exactly save you at the time.

Like I said at the very end, self defense is a different case...
But I'm guessing that you have to feel that your life is at risk for you to justify an action with self-defense. So... a girl hitting you probably wouldn't qualify.

Yeah, sorry, I fully read it after I commented. But yeah, I'm not picturing it as a slap, or something, but somebody literally attacking you.

And it wasn't really just because of women, just in general. My personal rules are that if a woman attacks me via punches and kicks, then to just grapple her down and wait until she calms down. But if she comes at me with a knife or a gun, I'm not going to show any mercy, and treat her differently than a man. At that point she is an enemy, and armed.
