Does anyone else realize that the reason girls go for douchebags is because they are confident? If a girl laughs at all your jokes and puts you in the friendzone it's probably not because you're ugly or physically unattractive in any way,It's probably because your personality makes you come off as weak and and not able to take care of her the way she needs to be. A douchebag may treat a girl like shit, but she'll feel safe and taken care of by being with him.
tl'dr Act confident and you'll get girls.

I feel that usually applies to shit heads like heavy drug addicts or emotionally damaged guys. I'm sure that some girls do have that complex towards douchebags and assholes too though.
