So here's a hypothetical.
We can already implant electronic devices in the brains of paraplegics so that they can control robotic limbs remotely, so I don't think a full-fledged processor/memory is far off. Now, if an infant is almost instantly imbued with the total knowledge of humanity, then it is mentally mature, and should readily become psychologically mature (within a year or two). Now, this roughly 3 year-old is completely an adult in their minds, yet are not physically. I think that with these modifications to the contemporary human growth model, a 'child' should be fully able to decide for itself whether or not it wants to have sex with a physically mature individual.
TL;DR Babies get knowledge implants, grow a bit, give consent at 3 y/o, seems alright

donkeyking (05/24/2012) [-] Not exactly what I said. I personally am not attracted to children. I think it kinda weird to be honest. But love is love, no matter age, gender, or whatever. The only reason it is considered wrong is because of how often it is forced on the child. But if the child is old enough to understand and make their own decision, like 15 or 16, then there is really nothing wrong with it.

My opinion is that it goes as far as how sexually active the person is. A four, five, six year old, up to like, 9 or 10, is NOT sexually active or even aware half the time of what sex is.
But twelve year old girls these days... not saying I'm interested, but that they do try to push themselves into more "mature" relationships with older men. I wouldn't call a twelve year old and say, a 20 year old pedophilia if both parties fought for marriage/ and both expressed complete understanding of the commitment they were undertaking.
Some 12 year olds are remarkably mature, others are simply just sexually active by their own choice and so it's bound to happen, just like pregnancy among twelve year old parents. A fourty year old marrying one, however, is just creepy.

Consensual usually means that both parties know exactly what they are getting into when they agree to an action, in the case of Minors their decision making is impaired by the fact that they do not have enough life experience to truly understand what they are agreeing to.
Now I do understand that "18" is an arbitrary age and some people mature to a point of being consensual before that and some later than that, but when you are talking legality you need a base point and our society has deemed it to be "18" (depending on your state or country of residence).
