String Theory is what lumpen scientists use to fill in the blanks. In a sense it isn't much different from religion because it can't be proven. It isn't even a true scientific theory either because it can't be tested or observed.

yeah but most of the stuff that theoretical physicists do are only backed by theoretical math. I dont see any flaws in the theory although.

String is just that though, a theory. And it is one of those theories that is supposed to fill in the blanks, that is the whole purpose of science. And it can be tested, but not observed since the little "strings" that make up everything are so small.

Theory and scientific theory aren't the same thing. A scientific theory is fact. It can be observed or tested. Gravity is a scientific theory.

String Theory can neither be tested nor observed. It's used by some physicists to fill in the blanks because they're not satisfied with the unknown. String Theory is the equivalent of saying "God did it'".

it's time to face the fact that the overwhelming majority of funnyjunk is atheist and this sort of stuff are not intended to preach to the believing users but simply to amuse the other atheist.
this post especially doesn't come to mock the beliefs of creationists but to show how frustrating / pointless can it be to argue with few of them.

This is the atheism page of FJ, there's GOING to be religious things on it, typically insulting religion. So, the odds of an atheist "starting a shitstorm" is almost a MILLION time more likely to happen. It's like going to ponytime and saying "Man, I do not enjoy when people post ponies, they cause ALL the issues relating to ponies." I said it once and I'll say it again, I don't mean to offend anyone.

I'm not really religious at all but I think people should be able to believe what they want to believe as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

A lot of people actually are like him, myself included. It's just the fucking stupid uneducated people that make theists look bad. A lot of us are actually very tolerant of other peoples' views.

Again this would be fine, except one of those groups tries to nudge its way into the economic and political sections of society. Where it has no place. I'm fine with just someone having straight up religion, but the moment it tries to tell other people what they can or can't do (who aren't believers of that faith) then I want them gone.

No you disprove something by taking the evidence that supports it and analyzing it. Since the only thing christians have is the bible, and we can easily tear that thing apart.

Technically you can say aliens exist simply because the probability of lifeforms on other planets existing is to staggering to think otherwise. But thats my opinion.

Those things are different from a god, those a things that we can easily not believe in because we recognize them as thought creations and noone has ever seen one to date. But when there is a religion with a material book discussing real world events, then these can be considered 'evidence'.
