they had cheaper parts because dell was a bigger company and could mass produce the parts at a cheaper price at the same quality
alienware is still a high proformance gaming computer brand and still has its cool factor
but i cant afford one so i use an older dell computer and it is a very good computer for what i paid for it

the motherboard, screen, case, and power brick are not put to par for the price since bell bought them. regular dell computers break a lot i own a few. there cheap. if you want a mid-range laptop go lenovo if you want a over the top laptop go origin (origin is owned by the same people that made alien-ware before dell bought them out) trust me when i work as the head it at a local computer shop before i went to collage. all i would get is dell's, hp's, and compacts in with broken screens., fried mother boards, and power bricks that wouldn't work.

they use cheap capacitors over time they go bad and if there is ever a power surge they blow. plus the solder they use the hold the power connecters can come loose easy. dell and hp are just the kind of companies that get the cheapest parts from china to save a buck. some other there business class laptop are ok but there home computers are some of the most unreliable computers i have to deal with.

no don't worry not every dell will break. they just have the best track record. i would recommended back up any important files on some other devices just in case. no matter what computer you have just in case. ever doing an free online backup for pics, and documents that you cant get back. i had pave people cry because i have to tell them there there hard-drive crashed and there files are lost. and that is were most of my have for dell and hp come from because there the ones that i got in the shop and for friends and family that are broken beyond piratical repair. probably as high as 90% of the broken computers i get are dell and hp. it sucks having to tell someone that doesn't have a lot a money to blow that you cant do anything to help them and they need to buy a new computer. sorry for typing so much

If that's the Toshiba Satellite, I am currently using it, I haven't even had it for a year and it's already falling apart. It's a piece of crap.

Mine is the 200 dollar version. It has crashed 18 times and it's literally falling apart. Every time I open it up the bottom separates.
