As of right now gay marriage is a state issue. The Federal Government isn't going to lay down a blanket law making it legal/illegal. It's actually the state senates that decide whether it's legal or not. Those senators are appointed by the people. If they voted for gay marriage and their constituents opposed it they would be voted out, don't blame them. The truth is that the majority of the country is not ready for Gay Marriage. The majority of the internet may be, but that doesn't count for much in the poll booths.

Gay Marriage has been put to a popular vote 32 times and it has been rejected 32 times. (including in California) Public polls will tell you that the majority supports it, obviously the American people still hold opinions that they aren't willing to express until the curtain closes. You're not going to change those opinions by going over their heads and passing it across the board in Washington. That's just going to cause more anger and resentment.

I personally think gays should be allowed to marry, but this is not the time to do it. The economy is in the toilet and our government crippled by infighting as it. It would only exacerbate things if we pitted them against each other over gay rights.

Btw that picture is from the House of Representatives, not the Senate.

Oh look. More gay propaganda. The only reason Obama even said anything about it is because he needs votes.

In all honesty, yeah getting same-sex marriage legalized is important, but I think that there are much more important issues at hand that America needs to tackle first.
No-one is going to truly suffer if people of the same sex can't get married, but with the national debt crisis, the unemployment levels, the war, etc., those affect people more.
In no way am I against same-sex marriage, I just think that we need to focus on the more important issues at hand that affect more people.

This country could rise up better than ever before. It could return itself to its level in the 1980s or post-WWII era.

But politics is getting in the way of all the decisions that need to be made. It's SO EASY to fix this debt, make the dollar better, make the economy as a whole better. But these Godforsaken Representatives/Senators are more focused on their next election.

Ministers, what can we do about the ongoing financial crisis, people losing their jobs and economy decline in our country?

Give more money to Afghanistan, EU, Greece and bonusses to all the officials of this country! Let the people of this country pay for our incompetence that caused this in the first place!

Step 1: Bring Teddy Roosevelt back from the grave
Step 2: Clone Oliver Cromwell
Step 3: Get them elected as President/vice President
Step 4: Teddy Roosevelt shoots corrupt bankers with his elephant gun
Step 5: Oliver Cromwell releases wolves into the capital building while congress in session
Step 6: Profit!

"Come Senators, Congressmen, please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be he who has stalled
and the battle outside raging will soon shake your windows and vibrate your walls,
for the times they are a-changing."

I figure if everyone's going to be arguing in the comments section we could at least have some good music.

ummm... marriage is covered by the state, not the senate. you'd have to propose the bill to the governor, not the senate. that's why Obama hasn't done anything about gay marriage.
