spending half of his life fighting for a cause. for a free world. some wars can be prevented without violence. but somtimes you have fight for freedom or what have you. where would we be without the french revolution, the amrican revoltuion, WWI and WWII? sometimes people have to die. its a cruel fact of life.
I see where you're coming from, and I'm not saying OP's grandfather was like this, but a lot of people join the military because they're deluded psychopaths. Why do you think you hear all these news reports of the fucked up shit US soldiers do to civilians in the middle east?
I don't think you understood what I mean. Yes, Hitler and Stalin were bad, and the soldiers don't compare to that. But what I'm saying is that a LOT of soldiers back then AND today sign up simply because they enjoy killing people. Not ALL, but the military naturally attracts psychotic assholes.
who knows... it might even be a better place
Julius Caesar, Napoleon, HItler were all trying to conquer the world and died trying. But all of them also did many great things for the humanity
Think of the high technology of the roman empire, that crumbled shortly after Julius was killed. Who knows what more technologies they could have invented.
Napoleon brought Europe the metric system, the kilogram, he was a genius at organizing.
Many Germans wish they still had the wall - not saying that is a good thing...
I just feel like people should care more for themselves sometimes

the first two i completly agree with. but a nazi world, i can not fathom. it seams like when the jews are all dead and the world is still poor hittler would have targeted another group and continued killing until there wasnt anyone left.
