User avatar #38 to #2 - tigerbloodxx (05/17/2012) [-]
Do you think they offered to do that, nobody really wanted to fight that war, they fought so the world would be free, not to get money.

How does it make you feel to know that you're an ignorant asshole?
User avatar #32 to #2 - BuffaloDragon (05/16/2012) [-]
i suppose that it would be wrong for a police officer to kill in the name of public safety too

Scenario: You have a wife that youve been with for 20 years, happily married.
one guy points a gun at her
would you
A: Stand by idly, saying "dont shoot please!"
B: Punch him in the neck
C: Run Away
also, he hasnt noticed you.
User avatar #95 to #30 - kirkbot (05/17/2012) [-]
B, but i would refuse any kind of honoring
killing someone is not heroic
User avatar #128 to #95 - mcmanybucks (05/17/2012) [-]
I agree, it is certainly not something to be honored by, but sometimes violence is needed to keep the peace intact..sadly.
User avatar #29 to #2 - thomasaquinas (05/16/2012) [-]
If that is your thought i don't agree but i respect your wishes to think the way you want

how does it make you feel that he was more then likely forced into service and he did his civil duty to his country? his grandfather was a hero.
User avatar #28 to #3 - thomasaquinas (05/16/2012) [-]
Don't yell at him . My Grandfather fought for the Republic and this man is as welcome at my table as any other
User avatar #4 to #3 - kirkbot (05/16/2012) [-]
heroes don't kill people
User avatar #58 to #4 - welshglish **User deleted account** (05/17/2012) [-]
Heroes also don't rage at people more capable than themselves from behind the safety of rights men have died to uphold... Think on that you snivelling cunt.

And no, I am not a jingoistic, idealist American.
User avatar #40 to #4 - tigerbloodxx (05/17/2012) [-]
heroes kill people for the protection of other people.
#5 to #4 - secretlygayhippo (05/16/2012) [-]
heroes also dont sit idley by while another kills millions of people. he did what he had to do. killing some to prevent millions of deaths always makes sense
User avatar #6 to #5 - kirkbot (05/16/2012) [-]
if no one would think like that, there would be no one left who would be willing to kill
#7 to #6 - secretlygayhippo (05/16/2012) [-]
but you wiould still have that one asshole would just comes to fuck shit up. Ex. Hittler. regardless of weather everyone else didnt want to kill people he, and his gang of ner-do-els, did. so someone had to stop him
User avatar #8 to #7 - kirkbot (05/16/2012) [-]
Breivik was stopped without killing him
There's no death penalty in Norway
User avatar #31 to #8 - fosforgasxiii (05/16/2012) [-]
Because sitting and doing nothing would have stopped Hitler conquering Europe and killing millions in the holocaust.
#9 to #8 - secretlygayhippo (05/16/2012) [-]
yes you can to some extent. like Gahndi, but you cant win a war without some violence. there just isnt any reasoning with you.
User avatar #10 to #9 - kirkbot (05/16/2012) [-]
but you can prevent a war without violence
#11 to #10 - secretlygayhippo (05/16/2012) [-]
yes you can prevent war. but once war has started its really hard not to. as what happend with his granddad.

this is what a hero looks like

how heroic

ok then. audie murphy
User avatar #16 to #15 - kirkbot (05/16/2012) [-]
quite impressive, but I wouldn't call him a hero
just a very impressive killer, spending half of his life fighting
#17 to #16 - secretlygayhippo (05/16/2012) [-]
spending half of his life fighting for a cause. for a free world. some wars can be prevented without violence. but somtimes you have fight for freedom or what have you. where would we be without the french revolution, the amrican revoltuion, WWI and WWII? sometimes people have to die. its a cruel fact of life.

I see where you're coming from, and I'm not saying OP's grandfather was like this, but a lot of people join the military because they're deluded psychopaths. Why do you think you hear all these news reports of the fucked up shit US soldiers do to civilians in the middle east?
User avatar #43 to #34 - tigerbloodxx (05/17/2012) [-]
Yes, psychopaths, the assholes that give america such a bad reputation, just like Hitler, Stalin, and more, many more.
User avatar #81 to #43 - gammajk ONLINE (05/17/2012) [-]
I don't think you understood what I mean. Yes, Hitler and Stalin were bad, and the soldiers don't compare to that. But what I'm saying is that a LOT of soldiers back then AND today sign up simply because they enjoy killing people. Not ALL, but the military naturally attracts psychotic assholes.
User avatar #18 to #17 - kirkbot (05/16/2012) [-]
i would pay good money to see what life would be like if there was no WWII
#19 to #18 - secretlygayhippo (05/16/2012) [-]
what i mean is, what would the world be if we didnt fight in world war one and two. not that they were nessesary. sorry on my part.
User avatar #20 to #19 - kirkbot (05/16/2012) [-]
who knows... it might even be a better place
Julius Caesar, Napoleon, HItler were all trying to conquer the world and died trying. But all of them also did many great things for the humanity
Think of the high technology of the roman empire, that crumbled shortly after Julius was killed. Who knows what more technologies they could have invented.
Napoleon brought Europe the metric system, the kilogram, he was a genius at organizing.
Many Germans wish they still had the wall - not saying that is a good thing...
I just feel like people should care more for themselves sometimes

I know I'm way late to the party, but your views on life are so ignorant. If our soldiers didn't defend us we would be a pile of ash or slaves.

the first two i completly agree with. but a nazi world, i can not fathom. it seams like when the jews are all dead and the world is still poor hittler would have targeted another group and continued killing until there wasnt anyone left.
#22 to #21 - kirkbot (05/16/2012) [-]
most probably
he was a bad example, I admit
also he killed himself and that doesn't make him a hero
