Prior to the iPod(and everything branched from it), Microsoft funded Apple to keep them afloat.
Why? because if not for Apple managing to stay above water, Microsoft would have a Monopoly(which is illegal). so it cost less money for them to fund Apple.

Some argue over a "mutual trust" or "Microsoft saw the potential".

1. There is no more NASA, Cost too much money

I think he was referring to the Netscape case that now causes Microsoft fund Macintosh. The government requires Microsoft to give them money so Windows isn't the only OS on the market.
