I have a macbook, and I really like it. I'll be the first one to admit how grossly overpriced they are, but they run like a fucking dream. If you're not a big computer nerd that wants to change and configure everything, and you want something that will work consistently for years no matter what you do then a mac is an amazing computer. They never get viruses, they perform just fine and if something goes wrong you can go to any mac store and they'll help you, you don't have to get on the phone and talk to some asshole in India. Sure, mac users can get a little annoying when they won't stfu about how great they are, but in truth, for the average consumer a mac is the best machine. Not as many people are obsessed with customization as the internet seems to think, and let's not forget about the programs you can download which allow you to run windows on a mac, and switch back and forth at will. I'm prepared for the red thumb shitstorm that's going to ensue because of this comment, but I've used both pcs and macs and I just prefer macs. Granted I'm not a programmer or a big computer guy, but my mac serves me just fine and I doubt I'll be returning to pc anytime soon. I can't speak on Linux though because I have no clue.
TL;DR - I've used both mac and PC and in my opinion mac is the best for the general consumer, but it is absurdly expensive.
