Let's clear this up.
PC (In terms of Windows based OS):
What you'll find in most offices (at least around where I live). Used by businesses who need computers for their basic, core functions. Also typically used by gamers due to their seemingly limitless customization abilities.

Best for: Businesses that use Microsoft Office, Gamers

Mac:
Found in a lot of art classes. Quite possibly the best choice for any sort of editing. Garage Band for music, Adobe Studio for video, picture and flash editing, runs best (in my experience, so don't rage) on Macs, as well as their ability to work seamlessly with pen and tablet interfaces.

Best for: Editing and Artistic Uses

Linux:
For people who really know their shit. Most people I know who use Linux are the same people who work as programmers, as Linux can do nearly anything as long as you can make it.

Best for: People who like to customize their computers, inside and out.

Feel free to make any corrections or additions for those out there who may know more about a certain type of computer. If you want to thumb down and flame, be my guest. I just don't care :) Good Day to you all my friends :D

I agree, editing software does run better on macs if you compare by hardware performance.

But if you run your editing software on a 1200 euro/dollar mac and you run the same editing software on a 1200 euro windows system. The editing software does run way better on the Windows software. (My experience with it, tried it numerous times while working in a PC shop.)

Why you ask? For 1200 dollars, you can buy a PC, with insane hardware specs that are sometimes even 3 times faster than any mac priced equivalent. Mac is so damn overpriced, that its even sad that some people buy those systems 'just for the looks', while there are plenty of PC cases that look nearly the same, or even better imo.

But thats just my experience/opinion. Ofcourse, its the internet so it won't hold allot of value.

No no, despite what others may think, I welcome contrasting opinions! It's good to get a wide spectrum of ideas. It's what my country (USA) was founded on, as well as plenty of other countries! (I say MY country because I don't want to make assumptions about you without knowing. Since assume makes an ass out of you and me :P).

I completely understand where you are coming from as well. It's just that in my experience, I don't really see many programmers or gamers buying Macs for their respective needs. Normally it's the artsy-fartsy type who I see buying Macs. To be honest, I'm running a dual-OS on my PC so I can edit my music ( I play semi-decent guitar :P) on Garage Band.

hehe thanks. Well its more or less the 'hipsters' here (The Netherlands) buying Apple products, altough many companies are now buying iPhones and iPads to sync their agenda's to the company server. Which I still find wierd because the same can be done with millions of other devices...

That said, I can also run MacOSX on my Notebook, which is only because all my hardware is the exact same hardware that is in a 1800 euro Macbook Pro (5 months ago). Yet my Notebook was only 800 euro's 5 months ago.

But yeah, my opinion still stands, if you compare hardware-wise, the mac wins in editing software. I don't know why, I don't know how, I maybe a IT 'professional', but it still confuses me how Apple made it work better.

If you compare money wise however, I still think you are better off with buying your own PC hardware parts, putting them together, install Windows, MacOSX (a custom version) and Linux all on the same computer and you would still be cheaper off. Unless ofcourse people can convince me otherwise. :P

Very true, and for people who are unaware as to what a power user is:
A power user is a user of a personal computer who has the ability to use advanced features of programs which are beyond the abilities of "normal" users, but is not necessarily capable of programming

Well I have a mac and yes it was a little overpriced but 2 years in and this bad boy hasn't failed me or ran any slower considering of course I take care of it. I don't game much but I do have a few programs such as halo ce, mw3, and gta I don't even edit alot of things; garage band just sits there never opened and never will it's just the specs and the basic functions are much more pleasing than a pc if I had the chance to go back to a pc I'm pretty sure I would cry now that I've seen the light. Was it worth the money? Every cent.
