This seems like it would actually be possible, though as I am not a major in sciences/computers, my logic is likely flawed.

Couldn't you make it so the moving of the treadmill gives energy, yet it only lets the energy flow if there is pressure near the center.

Yes that can work but it would only give the machine power, the internet however would be tricky.

Hmm... Maybe a pressure plate completes the circuit for a source of wifi, so that it will only work if you are actually doing something?

On a slower setting, you would complete the circuit less as you would be moving less, but on a faster speed you would be activating the pressure point and having it connect more often.

No matter what it would be slow and skippy, you obviously wouldn't be able to play flash games or such, but it seems like it could allow you to browse sites such as this.

Its simple, the faster you walk, the more energy produces! The only thing you need to connect is some sort of censor that detects the amount of energy its recieving and that censor sends a signal to a certain software program that allows internet speeds to go up.

For example, if you internet speed for downloading is no greater than 2.5MB, for walking you would get like 500Kbp/s, but as soon as you start slowly jogging, you would get 1.0-1.5MB. Running at a constant speed will give you the 2.5MB.

Instead of wasting all that energy the censor recieves, you could utilize the energy to power a fridge for cold drinks, or something else that encourages you to 'move'. :P

What I am trying to say is, creating a software program that 'funnels' your internet connection speed is not hard and censors for detecting energy and can send a signal to USB are also 'common' in the technology world. (Consumers have a hard time to get those products though)

So you guys have a million dollar plan right there :P

modern treadmills and ellipticals are able to average out speed/steps per minute, so you could simply make it so that if you exceed a certain amount of steps per minute, or maintain a certain speed level, it would unshackle that much more bandwidth, allowing for more advanced functions the higher you go

holyfuckingshit.jpg we could make millions.

It could be called the "ilovemothertroll machine". Where can we get the patents and someone who could actually make this?

I could probably build this... I just need a few parts.
