thatrussiantroll (05/15/2012) [-] I know this story, he was told by his commanding officer "Never surrender, if caught commit suicide" so he lived in the woods for 29 years after WWII and it was all over the news and they sent out his brother to find him and bring him home by driving around forests with a microphone yelling the war is over and to please come home. His name was Lt. Hiroo Onoda

He was posted in a really remote island in the south pacific.
He wasn't really doing much, just camping in his bunker and raiding the local village for food. when they finally dicovered him, he refused to believe that Japan would ever surrender, and had to have a bunch of his old friends come and convince him that the war really was over.
