Have you tried open office? It's like drinking that cheap, flat, horrible supermarket cola instead of coke or pepsi... It feels awful to use because we all are so used to microsoft office.

Yeah, sadly.. :/ but as fukkendragonite said, Google docs is the way forward, can't agree more. :)
I don't really need much softwares to do school projects and school related stuff in general though, but we're only allowed to use Word and PowerPoint mostly. Not saying they're bad softwares in any way.

Kind of talking about the different files, if you're a student, you're somehow just allowed to only work with word files and such with MS softwares, if not, alternatives as Open Office. Google docs is amazing though, but it's kind of prohibited in most schools. Great for personal use obviously. :)
