One of the things you can do if you have a squeaky floor is hammer a drywall screw into it and it will kill the flex of the boards. If you would like an explanation on how this works just ask and I'll explain, but didn't know if you are the type that would like that kind of detail.

Not saying that is what this guy is doing because they are obviously trying to show that it works with both screws and nails, but that is a reason that someone would hammer in a screw.
