Hey, I like it. I'm not saying fuck you you're wrong or anything like that. I realise that people have different opinions and I respect yours. Filler is mainly shit I agree which is why you skip it. I simply don't understand why people would watch it if they don't like it then complain about it. What I'm trying to say is that filler doesn't make a show shit... It just makes that episode/s shit. Your name is from Trigun, are you going to say that in that entire series every single episode is relavant to the main story-line. Everyone? No. Anime creators can not continue a story-line without the manga but if they call a hiatus while they're waiting then all the fanboys scream at them.
tl;dr Filler doesn't make a show shit.

Trigun spanned a whole 26 episodes, Naruto is still going 300 episodes later, filler is thus more noticeable.
Trigun spanned of two whole seasons, Naruto started in 2006 and is still going today.
Normally, filler doesn't make a show shit, but when it gets this excessive the overall quality sure as hell goes down.

I don't understand why you wouldn't just wait for new non-filler content. Read the manga or watch a different anime and then comeback once the filler is done? I was just using Trigun as an example I haven't watched the show I read the manga which has 17 volumes. I assumed there would be many episodes.

But there's no point. Why wait? I have a lot of other shows to watch, if I don't enjoy something why would I go back to watch it?
I could go watch a 12 episode show where plot develops, the characters develop and my enjoyment develops; I don't need to watch every show under the sun.
And they only adapted part of the manga last time I checked.

The argument is that Naruto is a bad show because of filler. My statement is that if you don't enjoy filler watch something else while the anime developes and just watch the story episodes. That way you don't have to wait because you are learning about other characters and their story. And if you don't like the show in the first place then don't watch it.

And that's where my argument is coming from, I don't like it so I don't watch it.
The filler is, at the end of the day, part of the show. There's no point in excluding it and pretending that it's not part of the show, it still is.
If you ignore the filler, then it would not be bad, but it's still part of Naruto.
I understand that you can do something else, but should I need to with the alternatives? There's other shows out there with a better plot that does advance. If you ignore the filler and compare the remnants to one of these, then it would still pale in comparison.

But the thing is it's not a part of the actual storyline. It's not made by the author of Naruto and it's only there to appease fanboys while the mangaka writes the next part of the story. I have no problem with skipping filler because it's not part of the original storyline. I don't really know how to show you an example of what I'm trying to say but I hope you understand my point-of-view. Thanks for rationally discussing this as opposed to screaming "fuck your opinions hurr durr hurrr" :).

When you have a whole arc that is filler and you are watching it weekly, episode by episode, waiting for the filler episodes to end, it makes one hate filler a LOT, and makes one hate the show as well, which is what happened for me when I used to watch Bleach, I quit during the Bount arc. It's pointless to try and skip the arc when that is the arc that is currently airing in Japan.
Also, Trigun isn't even in my top 10 anymore, it's just the name I use because I've always used it.

Couldn't you just wait? I understand how frustrating it may be but surely there are other anime that you haven't watched to tide you over? And then once you're done with that one then the previous one should have some new story-related content. That or read the manga if you're up for that sorta thing. Btw thanks for being a decent person and actually discussing this with me rather than seeing an opinion opposite to yours and thumbind me down :).

I don't mind arguing constructively at all, it's just most people, as you say, see a different opinion than theirs and go crazy.
I haven't updated this in awhile but it's still rather close, these are in no particular order
1. Clannad
2. Welcome to the NHK
3. Nichijou
4. Azumanga Daioh
5. Harui (been meaning to take that off)
6. Steins;gate (same)
7. Spice and Wolf
8. Beck; Mongolian Chop Squad
9. Wolf's Rain.

No, you are implying DBZ sucks. You can say Naruto sucks another way (which may or may not be true). Try watching DBZ today, its just as awesome as it once was.

No, it won't be, and I know it won't be. It's everything I hate today, as it's long, has lots of filler, many pointless scenes (the joke about nothing happening but charge-ups in an episode is very true), and it's got a whole bunch of action scenes I care nothing about anymore. When I was a kid I used to love that stuff, I don't want to lose my perception on a show that was part of my childhood.

It's pointless, nonsensical to the storyline, and just makes the show continue forever. Most filler isn't even in the original manga so the company makes it up. For some reason, shounen shows like this never seem to think "oh don't worry we can just take a season or two off while the writer finishes this next arc in the manga", no they have to create their own pointless arcs which span almost an entire season and wastes every bodies time. Example; Bleach and the Bount arc
Also, you liking Naruto is also an opinion, so don't give me that shit.
