generalizing about Americans who generalize

sounds legit
#232 to #11 - midgetything (05/10/2012) [-]
ironic don't you think they speak English but it isn't English
#269 to #232 - thitchman (05/10/2012) [-]
It's English, just weirdly modified/mutilated. The way we've learned to pronounce things is really different but most things that are said differently still have the same meaning. I understand what you mean though. Not as ignorant as some Americans on the interwebz.

Way is see it is in England we speak English and Americans speak American English, so you can't hate on them, it's just a different dialect

I live in Australia and i wondered why we talk like we do but then i was watching Pirates of the Carribean and i realized that everyone is descended from pirates in Australia. Think about it how do you get too a giant island...on a boat, what do pirates travel in...boats.
'
TL:DR Australians are bad ass pirate desendents. Me'hearty

pretty sure Australia was colonised by the English not pirates :p
User avatar #629 to #627 - muhamidallea (05/10/2012) [-]
Yeah i know a fair bit about Aussie history. But i mean even the English settlers would have still been sailors and would have picked up the slang.

There are 311,591,917 people in America. It doesn't seem likely that every one of them classify themselves the same way.

Oh dear god yes. Most if not all think that.
#20 to #11 - N. Korean citizen (05/09/2012) [-]
i think it has more to do with the fact that movies, tv shows, and media in general in america usually speak the same form of english. its easy to forget that to other forms of english have been around longer if you never hear them.
#12 to #11 - twofacedent (05/09/2012) [-]
they're

And don't generalize. It's bad

It ain't generalization if it's true...

Yeah, I suppose that's why America has some of the richest and smartest people in the world. *cough* bill gates *cough*
"It ain't"

You expect one person to represent the entirety of your country? Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that's not how it works.
User avatar #641 to #640 - sjhftw (05/10/2012) [-]
I don't mean it that way. I'm giving him a reason not to generalize.

A new survey shows that fewer than half of all Americans can name Canada’s capital and that close to two-thirds of our neighbours to the south admit they learned nothing about this country’s history in school.

I'm Canadian and I know almost all of the states. And so does most of Canada. Were not fucken idiots either dude. Every country has a fucken smart person.

Also, FreeHealthcare Cough.

Implying knowledge of neighboring countries correlates with intelligence...

Hey, hey. I have nothing on Canadians. I admit a large portion of America isn't that smart but his generalization was so broad. Part of the reason is America isn't Americans anymore. The number of immigrants has risen up substantially in the past 20 years.
I'm American and even I know the U.S has gone to shit.

P.S. When Obama Care kicks in we. too will have free health care Even the trashy fucks on welfare sadly.
