Lol, Americans still think they live in a free nation.
so naive.
so naive.
I love living in America. But I can't help but compare to other countries.
In my homeland, the Netherlands, gay ppl can marry and you can smoke weed if you want. (I don't personally)
In China, there is no limit on drinking age.
I'm not saying that these freedoms are good, but they are freedoms that we don't have in America.

I actually do not blame our government for what has become of us, I blame the moral and common sensual decline of the average American. So many people want to sue others just because they step onto their lawns or just because they got a little coffee spilled on them. In return, the government began setting up a system which protected these pansy's.

That's exactly what Lord of the Flies is...
These kids get stranded on an island. They get along at first, all content with no real rules or government established, but after a while their human nature takes over, and they begin fighting and even killing for power. Only one of them is sensible enough to stay bonded to democracy and order, and he nearly gets killed for it.

Well, considering you guys sent man to the moon with the computing power of a digital watch and are incapable of doing it in the 21st century shows that America has changed.
I like what your country used to be, not what it has become.

Thats due to the prison system we have. We have a "warehouse" type system. We gave up trying to rehabilitate people because it wasnt working. The government decided to just start giving longer prison sentences and less opportunity for parole. We dont necessarily imprison more people, we just keep them there for much longer.
Neither way is perfect. Or even good for that matter. That picture/fact is slanted a little bit, and makes it sound a lot worse than it is, and it always annoys me. Just as an example, while in England its about 2 years, in the USA, while its up to the discretion of the judge, some rape offenses max out at 15, while others carry a potential life sentence. That's why we have so many people in prison; we dont let them out

I'm American and I agree with you. Our views and beliefs are constantly being suppressed, the Government no longer cares what we think. They do what they want, when they want. Not many people get a say anymore and it's pretty sad. Not only that, hardly any of us accept others for who they are which really disappoints me.
I'm fond for my country for my own reasons, but there are always flaws that lead me to dislike living here. I'm neutral with living in the United States.

Oh, I'm sorry. I guess living in one of the highest economic countries in the world with one of the smallest disease and hunger rates wasn't good enough for you. The government should sit you down and listen to everything you want so it's your way.
Everyone wants something different, the government can't just go change everything on a 51% vs 49% opinion every time, we would be in more debt than we are...
Quit your whining, if you have time to go on the internet instead of search for food, you're life in America is just fine.

Hey man, don't drag politics in. That's not cool and totally uncalled for.
But since you brought it up, social programs that offer things like medical exams and temporary housing to homeless people is a good thing, and gives those people an opportunity to pull out of poverty. So I don't understand why you think the government spending money to help people makes them poorer...
And, people became the most poor after this economic crisis, which started near the end of a REPUBLICAN's term. Not pointing fingers, I'm just saying that liberals aren't the only ones you should blame for poverty.

The government spending money we don't have didn't actually start with the liberals. In fact, it started in the late 1700's with the introduction of Alexander Hamilton's financial plan. It's the way our government works, and yeah, it's not working right now.
But you know, another thing that really contributes to government overspending is the military. Our military is spending ridiculous amounts of money on stuff that we don't need. Entering the Iraq War (not a liberal's decision) cost us money. Even the EU thought that entering Iraq was a dumb idea.
Just, you know, throwing out some things that detract from the idea that liberals are the root of all the nation's problems. Things are more complicated than that.
BTW, I can understand where you're coming from, because the news does censor a lot of Americans' information, so you might not know what I'm talking about. So I thumbed up your post that had red thumbs :)

For one of the most populous of the developed countries, it's pretty damn nice. Crazy high poverty rate? Probably guess we give so much of our own damn food and resources to places like Africa instead of helping ourselves, which annoys me.
Worse education? False, dumber people. Because of our higher standard of living, people tend to brush education aside and act like general dumbasses.
Second one is my opinion, but I agree with you for the most part.

As far as education goes, while dumb ppl might be part of the problem, another thing is that public schools are funded based on the wealth of the sorrounding area. So inner city kids get worse schools than kids in rich areas. Also, Americans have shorter school years.
Another thing is that it's difficult in America to fire crappy teachers.
Don't know why I'm getting thumbed down. I love living in America. I'm just saying it's not perfect, just like any other place.

I'm not thumbing down, I just want to have a friendly conversation with you.
To be honest, I was born in a very poor area where I went to school from K-7th grade. The whole time I had all A's. I'm not a Junior with a 4.0 GPA in a "rich kid" school, I'm taking 2 AP classes, and I'm doing just fine. However, you're right. Alot of kids from my school ended up doing drugs and starting a steady decline to failure. I guess I left just in time when my dad got promoted to a manager position for his department.
But yeah, you're right. That's probably why African Americans are so far off, I'm going to "greentext" it to make it easier to explain:
>Africans enjoy end of slavery
>Very poor, shitty jobs
>End up in inner city areas together to help eachother eventually
>Areas have poor, jobless citizens
>Results in poor, low quality schools
>African Americans have insufficient education, end up stealing and commiting crimes or doing drugs to escape the pain of a "low life"
>African Americans now are apx. 17% of our population but commit apx. 75% of all crimes.

That's a very well constructed argument. Yeah, I currently live in a very affluent area and I rarely see poverty, so when I read articles about how much poorer black people tend to be, it shocks me. I do think there is a flaw in the system that hurts many black people.
I have had the opportunity to see differences in public schools though. I went to a middle school in a very poor area, and it was incredibly easy for me. I pulled straight A's with little to no effort at all. I felt like a genius. But my high school is in a much more affluent area, and I'm struggling to have A's and B's. Everybody takes AP classes, and the expectations are so much higher. I feel much less intelligent in this school.
I commend you for taking AP classes. They are such a pain.

I have a 95 and 93 average in mine right now, but I'll tell ya, I've worked harder in these two classes than all of my first 9 years of schooling combined.
Another quick story, in my elementary school, we couldn't afford a library (or air conditioning, or school lunches, ect) so we had to walk 1/2 a mile every thursday to the local library to pick from 6 shelves of books. Most popular was Gunisess world records book of 2003, and this was like 2006 or '07. :P

Wow, yeah, that sucks. The library thing.
And yeah, as far as AP classes go, I would put that much effort in them, but there are too many. I'm in AP Spanish, US History, English, Physics, and Chinese. Pretty much all of my classes. There's comes a time when you learn to be satisfied with a B, cuz you just don't have enough time for everything.

Scratch that, not government, government is just too fucking lazy and incompetent to do anything right. Its media and the minorites that are oppressing the majority. I cant use the word "nigger" near a black person, for fear of being lynched and accused of hatecrimes. Why? Because of what some other "white guy" or "cracker" as the black community calls it, had done over a hundred years ago....
It doesn't matter that I have never done anything to black people, but because I am white, I cant say nigger, while the black people can say it where they want, when they want, and to who they want.

Somebodies rustled. Plus, we are suffering to how free you were, and not the state you were left in.
And no, we didn't go in just because of "oil hunting". Terrorist attacks, humanitarian and UN pressure, suspicion of nuclear programs, and so on. Regardless of which ones were most dominant. The middle east, as well as anyone else, should count their blessings and not their curses any (Just how like we need to here in America). So your economy is suckish because of the breakdown of terrorist regimes and changes in government. Go cry to Greece, they are much worse off. Plus, not all middle eastern countries are poor. I mean, Christ, UAE's Dubai is rolling in cash. Don't whine, be proactive
