Fire bending is based off of Northern Shaolin Kung Fu.
I am a black belt in Northern Shaolin Kung Fu.
I feel like such a badass.

Shouldn't their be more Airbenders in hiding before the war ended? Think about it, almost all the Monks in the Air Temple were male. I'm sure there were just as many female Airbenders but following monk customs, weren't allowed in the temples. So when the Fire Nation went to wipe out the Air Nomads they would have killed off all the MALE Airbenders. As for the females, they would of course hide the fact they could bend so they wouldn't be killed.

Has anyone noticed, that if you were the same age Aang was when the first show was released, you are the same age Korra is? Or relative you are? (Maybe off by a year or two, but it might be a way to keep the same fanbase)

Actually, as I've noticed, several aspects of Korra are based on opposite ideas from the first show.
For example:
The devaluation of bending: Tenzin reflects on this when he states out that pro-bending is a mockery of the ability. In Korra, you have a world where bending is much more commonplace than in The Last Airbender. The evolving technology puts bending at this sort of "practical usage" level where although it is a great power, it appears somewhat out of place or outdated.
The "future" technology: OP already said enough about it up there. The advanced technological setting makes bending look underwhelming and impractical, whereas in TLA, villages and towns were based on and functioned entirely around bending.
Amon and the Equalists: In TLA, you had Aang and company rising up from the bottom to fight against the tyrannical government/establishment of the Fire Nation. Now with Amon and the Equalists, you have a villainous underdog who is rising up against the perceived "good" government/establishment that is mast-headed by Korra and benders.
And I could go I could talk about Aang vs Korra, but that's all pretty obvious stuff.
Them writers be cookin' up some good stuff, mhm.

I don't get why the show has to be rated Y7. It really limits the intensity of the action. (I.E. only one character shown being killed in the entire series) The original series aired from 2005-2008, you'd think their could up the rating seeing that the original fans are now older. Keeping the target audience the same as it was 7 years ago kinda alienates the original viewers. Don't get me wrong. It's a great show, but I just feel odd watching a Saturday morning cartoon at age 19.

(Because no one ever seems to know this) Behold the martial arts that the forms of bending are based on
Fire bending is based on Northern Shoalin- emphasises on breathing and strong punches and kicks
Air bending is based on Ba Gau- spiral movements which allows you to change direction if you meet resistance
Water bending is Tai Chi- "Push and Pull" "use your enemies strength" etc.
Earth bending is Hung Gar- strong yet simple techniques based on a strong centre of balance
Also Toph's style of earth/metal bending is based on a type of Hung Gar called Southern Praying Mantis which was invented by a blind woman who was in captivity (hence Toph metal bending in a metal cage)
