weejer (05/06/2012) [-] you only see the bad part aboout anything now adays, what about those churches who support homeless shelters, religious organizations that build affordable homes in low income neighborhoods. radicals and idiots dominate the news and everyone judges a huge group of people based on said few idiots. just try to remember most of us religious types aren't all that stupid.

I just think it's stupid to judge a whole religion by its followers. Sure these things are terrible, but I'm Muslim and I certainly don't see anything Islamic about these things (that are related to Muslims), and I know my Quran. If you want to judge a religion, read the holy scriptures themselves and then you can judge. Cause there's a whole world of differences between Christians and the Bible, Muslims and Quran etc.

no, NOT communismSLASHatheism. because of communism. atheism is only part of the story because carl marx wrote that religion is opium for the masses. it's like when someone says 'i had sex once' and you accuse him of trying to rape your daughter. two very different things, atheism and communism.

you said the communists killed people in the name of atheism which is simply false, no matter how you turn it. atheism did not CAUSE stalin's behavior any more than his choice of breakfast. again, 'i do not believe in god' and 'we should get rid of religion' are completely separate statements.

They believed that Christians were the scum of society, and therefore killed them. It was in the name of Atheism, even though atheists are very diverse and differ alot with each other.

how do you still not get it? yes, marxism did contain aspects of atheism but the reasons the stalinists gave for their crimes were NOT NOT NOT atheism but their belief that religion was so harmful that you should get rid of it with violence. what if stalin actually was a christian but he thought that despite his belief in god, religion did more harm than good? would he still have tried to abolish it? YES! no matter how often you claim it, atheism itself was NOT the cause for any of stalin's crimes.
P.S.: google christian communism, it exists and is further proof that stalin's deeds were not inspired by atheism but marxism.
