You really think that the world we lived in just happened? That evolution knew what it was doing? There had to be some kind of driving force.
User avatar #1826 to #1793 - ThisIsConnor (05/04/2012) [-]
Evolution can't "know what it was doing". Evolution is an idea, a concept, a natural phenomenon; not some all powerful deity.

That is literally the most retarded way you can possibly make an argument of it.
I'm an Atheist, but still.
He's basically saying "hurr hurr I can't comprehend it therefore no one can"
User avatar #1761 to #1755 - ThisIsConnor (05/04/2012) [-]
Sounds more to me like he's saying there are two options here: Heaven doesn't exist or Heaven is incompetent. Either way...

No, because he's assuming we were all suffering and dying before the birth of Christ.
I've actually read the Bible, people weren't suffering and dying, we were just living in sin.
And secondly, he's implying that Christ's sacrifice only affected the middle east, when it actually affected all of humanity.
Thirdly, he contradicted himself, as he said the word couldn't be spread if it happened in the middle east, whereas it is quite clear that the word has spread, quite a lot in fact.

Well, even though we're both Atheists, you gotta admit that the Bible is a credible source forinformation on Christianity...

For the truth on Christianity, and for making PROPER assumptions about the Christian religion/story, which both you and the guy in the picture seemed to have ignored in favour of gathering information from assumptions, yes.
Now of course, as I'm not a Christian, I don't think the Bible is truth, but we're talking about an information resource on the Christian faith here, in which case it is pretty truthful in showing us what Christians believe in.

Well, in all honesty, that's just personal opinion.
And I'm an Atheist, so you're kinda preaching to the choir here, buddy.

Well, then, you obviously weren't following this conversation very well, as I wasn't talking about that.

Your talking about the bible being credible. I'm talking about how it is not. I believe everything I said was relevant.

Oh my god, actually read my comments!
I said the Bible was a credible source of information on what Christians believe in, not that it is absolute truth.

Wouldn't it make sense for something to be credible to be true? That's what I'm talking about, and I did read your comments. Now read mine. It is a credible source of christian faith, yes, I think that is perfectly understood by MANY MANY people. But I am simply stating that shouldn't something that is considered credible actually be true?
User avatar #1814 to #1812 - captaincabinet **User deleted account** (05/04/2012) [-]
Dude, let's put it into another context here, since you obviously don't understand the difference.

I have an instruction manual for a washing machine. I say it's a credible source of information on how a washing machine works. You're saying that because it's a credible source of info on how a washing machine works, it also tells us how every kitchen appliance works.

Wish more Atheists were well thought out like you instead of the millions of Atheists on the internet who don't know what they're on about and call themselves Atheists as a fashion statement. Thumb for you good sir.
#1815 to #1814 - kevinjr (05/04/2012) [-]
I can look at this manual and see that it is true, why in the world would I think it's true for every other appliance as well?
