They are functional and simple, It's good if you don't mind throwing money at a "problem" to fix it
I Like my HTC chacha... It was cheap ($100AUD unlocked), supports a 32gb MicroSD and has a full keyboard (making it a perfect Gameboy Advance emulator) and as a bonus, I can get about 4 days standby time
I've only got 3 problems with iPhones personally,
1. Lack of freedom in the OS; Eg...No File manager, the nonexistence of Flash, Can't plug in external storage
2. Needing to use iTunes (but there are alternatives)
3. An iPhone can be remotely disabled by the carrier if jailbroken (I've heard of it happening to a friend, but didn't attempt to fix it myself, he took it back to the store before I could help)
But my first two problems won't even bother most people because there are free apps which will replace the missing functionality, and many people already use iTunes
My 3rd can only become a problem if you are in a contract with a carrier (because the iPhone is technically their property still)
But to be fair, in Google Play AKA Android market, there are a fuck-tonne of bogus/spyware apps in there whereas the "apple app store" has pretty good quality checks
and there are a lot of crappy android handsets out there (but there are a lot of very, very good ones) Eg, I haven't seen a Sony Ericsson handset I like, but Samsung and HTC have never let me down
I have no exp with windows phones, but I hear mixed reviews.
There's my two cents Hope it helped :)
