Avast free antivirus- Keep game settings. Rarely updates, never really interrupts.
Auslogics Disk defrag- for defraging.
Malware anti-ware- For protection from malware, somewhat annoying but I think it's worth it.
Keep windows firewall off, seriously does nothing.
Truecrypt - encryption.
You'll have a very secure computer after this.

How is defragmentation or encryption relevant to virus protection?
User avatar #5 to #3 - TheIllusiveMan ONLINE (04/30/2012) [-]
It isn't. I'm just saying all that makes a secure and well protected PC.

I just use common sense. It's the only security you need.

Common sense can't stop cold boot attacks.

Yeah, and how often does that happen by random chance?

Not often, but you never know. It's like having a surge protector. It's helping to protect you from something that might not happen, but if it does you might lose everything.

It's not good at all though. Sure it works but there is better protection that's also free.

AVG free is also quite good. Spybot S+D has an excellent library for rootkits and stuff.

I posted above this what I use. But I would use avast free antivirus. I think it's very good for being free.
