Are you serious?

No, really, I've never heard the story. Is it a big plot twist?

No, in the original Rapunzel story, Rapunzel was never a princess and was taken by the witch as payment for the Rapunzel her mom ate when she was pregnant with the girl. Rapunzel grows up and her hair gets long, the witch teaches Rapunzel to fear men. Rapunzel meets the prince and they have sex many times (Rapunzel didn't know any better, all she know was that the prince wasn't hateful). Rapunzel gets knocked up by the prince and the witch finds out, the witch goes nuts, cuts off all of Rapunzel's hair (which had no magical properties, it was merely used as a stepladder) and magics Rapunzel out into the middle of the forest to live out the remainder of her days.

The prince comes to the tower horny as ever and climbs up Rapunzel's hair but instead meets the witch who pushes him from the tower. He lands on thorns which grew from the bottom of the tower. The thorns embedded themselves into his eyes and heart. The witch says it's a curse that would make him heart for the rest of his life, have him want for nothing but Rapunzel, see nothing but Rapunzel.

Rapunzel gives birth to twins.

In some stories the prince finds Rapunzel and her tears heal him and they get married and live happily ever after raising their bastard twins.
Other stories have Rapunzel raise the twins on her own and the prince slowly grows mad with a want which will never be fulfilled.

Disney took the story, wiped out the pregnancy altogether and made the hair magical.
It's sort of what they do with every fairy tale they get their hands on.

In the last few years all the fairy tales have suddenly recieved happy endings.

And now Disney have started butchering them.

Cool. Sounds like an interesting story. I'll stick to star wars, though.

Nor would I. I only recently found out this year Little Red Riding hood had a happy ending.

Wonderful childhood.
