To everyone commenting below they're just going to starve and die, this is not always the case. I have several dogs whom I do not feed, they just live on my property. They go out and hunt for themselves and find water and shelter when needed.. if people took the time to transport them into the wilderness, they'd be fine.
Yeah. Do you live in the country? If so there is only enough food for so many. How many are on your place? I bet it is nowhere near 500 dogs. Some dogs know how to hunt because its in their nature. Some do not. If they start eating the food sources available what will happen to the coyote/predator, whatever is in that country, populations. Now that the natural predator population goes down. The large herbivores such as deer/(whatever is in their country) ,which dogs do not take down easily, have an increase in population. Now more crops are lost and more people end up in wrecks. Your argument is invalid because it occurs on a very small scale.
