Malcolm McDowell FTW
He is Alex from Clockwork Orange
He's Caligula in Caligula
He's Linderman in Heroes
He's President John Henry Eden in Fallout 3
The Grandfather in Phineas and Ferb
And Dr Loomis in the Halloween Remakes

forgive my ignorance, but who is Alex DeLarge?

the main character from A Clockwork Orange. It was a book made into a movie, as seen in my gif. I suggest you just watch the movie cause the book is ridiculously hard to understand do to the unusual language used (it's still English, just some different terms). The movie uses the same language but you can see what's going on so it's not that bad. You should look it up. It's definitely a true classic for both critics and normal people like us. Stanley Kubrick was the director

on a side note, it's VERY graphic, mainly cause of a rape scene, and was banned in the UK for a long time. So I suggest watching it alone cause if you watch it with family it would be super awkward and if you watch it with friends you're bound to have that typical douchey friend laugh at an inappropriate time ruining the mood of the scene

Ignoring difficult language, is the book a greater experience?

I couldn't get into the book. I had already watched the movie before trying the book. So that plus the difficult language made me just give up.

for the same reason there's also no way I'd be able to get interersted in The Lord of the Rings books or the Fight Club book just because I enjoyed the movies so much and I'd know what happens

I need to watch the movie again. I can't even fire back with a quote from the next scene where they return to the bar

here's the intro. Perfect mood setter and sample for someone who hasn't seen it. The music, the feel, everything, sets the mood for a very unique film. Depressing and dark yet satirical
