Oh yeah, tomatoes were originally thought to be poisonous when they were first brought to Europe.

From what I've read, the stems and leaves are slightly poisonous.

the way I heard it was that the upper class would eat everything on silver plates. when they ate tomatoes, the acid in them would corrode the plate, giving them metal poisoning.

Pirates drank from silver flasks which kept them healthy on long periods at sea due to silver being a natural anti-microbial.

I doubt their drinks had acid in them.

ok so heres how it goes, they find Foxface dead, who happened to be allergic to the berries (which were never poisonous in the first place, cause im making a reference to the content above) so time goes on, peter (cause i dont care if its technically peeta) and katniss are the last 2 left, the rules are changed back to 1 winner, soo they go to eat the berries, only in this scene they arent stop, then after eating them they find out oh look turns out they arent actually poisonous
